Owner description: Wax museum that focuses on African-American culture and history.

Please don't be deceived by the name, this museum is for everyone. While it can be graphic and move you to feel different emotions, it is certainly not designed to instill hate in the hearts of ANYONE. This museum is perfectly crafted to present African-American history with very impressive waxes of prominent figures through out time. The slave ship and lynch exhibit (especially) are graphic, but paint a great picture of where blacks have come from with encouragement towards a brighter future. I would recommend this for anyone in the Baltimore area, or a special trip (as we did) if you're not in the area.

I am writing this review to state that I visited the blacks in wax museum and there's so much history to unfold and see. I enjoyed every minute of it and I am looking to go back this month to visit it again.

This is a place rich with history. It is Very educational, a great learning experience. The wax figures are very lifelike and some cause a great impact. I really enjoyed this place.

(Re)learned a lot of history and about great African American leaders. Enjoyed the fact that despite some of the horrors recalled (eg, the Middle Passage, lynchings), the museum's message was not about hatred but about hope and overcoming current struggles. The quality of some of the wax figures leaves a little to be desired. And, the gift shop has few pickings. But, overall this was definitely worth the trip!!

I haven't visit the museum in a number of years. The have add a number of new exhibits Obama of course and a living legends exhibit. Love this place so much history. Glad they are trying to move to a bigger and new location. It's time.
