“Great Railroad Museum”

One of the premier railroad museums in the country. Beautiful round house and nice collection of locomotives and rolling stock. Make sure you ride the train on the first mile and half of track laid in the US. Great piece of history and suitable for all ages.

“Great museum”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2011

Located in a somewhat sketchy area this museum is certainly worth a visit. We took the free charm city bus that dropped us right outside. Amazing selection of trains as well as historical information. Slightly too aimed towards younger kids I feel it could have done better to also aim toward 8+ age group too as there is enough in there that kept my 11yr old interested and I for that matter. More historical exhibitions and a better cafe would be appreciated but still certainly worth a visit!

“Perfect for young and old.”

Certainly this place has it figured out. With detailed train exhibits, historical trains, and all the memories for the old-timers, and play areas, a train ride, and all the new sights and sounds for that train-loving toddler in your life, this is a cathedral to trains.

Beautifully restored roundhouse with outstanding displays of vintage and more recent train cars and engines. Check out the model train layouts.

“Impressive attraction for railroad enthusiasts of every age group”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2011

Took 6 yr old grandson over the Thanksgiving holiday and were so impressed with this attraction, we have told other friends and relatives this is a "must see" while you are in the Inner Harbor area. From Nov 25 to Jan.29,2012 , the Holiday Festival of Trains and Toys will be held. We spent more than 4 hrs. there: largest collection of restored train cars, many cars you can actually board, great for history buffs, many model train displays, separate area for small children to play with trains, area set up to color pictures, nice picnic area and small concession area. For a few $$ more you can take a ride on a train. If you have been to other railroad attractions ie. Strasberg, Pa., you might be disappointed with this train ride, but the rest of the museum is an excellent attraction to visit. We are planning to go back again next yr.
