“A place in History”

This is one of the best gifts to be given to your childred. If fully understood they will have a better understanding of our nations heritage and that of their own. History that changed the planet was made right here. It's a national treasure.

“History lives here.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2011

If you like history, you should visit the fort. It is a great place to learn about the wars, the writing of "The Star Bangled Banner". I visit 3-4 times a year, it's also a great place to see the harbor.

“Good Part of the Walk”

This is a great monument and quite a little hike. Not sure if it was accessible to wheelchairs, but if you can climb it, we suggest you do. The view from the top is amazing

“Oh say can you see?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2011

Truly gives a sense of the scope of the battle that inspired F. Scott Key. There is a very moving short film in the musueum that had virtually everyone in tears. I won't give away the ending, but DO see it. The museum itself is FREE, but touring the fort is well worth the admission.

“Intresting historic site away from the bussel of the city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2011

Like so many similar sites in the US things are very well done. The visitor centre runs through the events that led to the Fort's one day of fame when the British fleet was attempting to burn and loot Baltimore. Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner words at the time, reflecting the effort in repelling the attach. Hearing the US national anthem will never be the same.
Wandering around the fort and taking in the peninsular river vista is equally interesting. My only criticism is the main theme seems a bit over milked, it would have been more balanced to learn more about the role of the Fort in the First World War for example.
