This museum is free for all to enjoy. The kids will enjoy the mummy oh how cool. Lots of medieval armor . The museum is on public transportation with plenty of on street parking and garages near by.

“Will be better once they finish expansion”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

One of the curators told me that they are hoping to expand the museum within the next 4 years. This is nice because then they will have room for their Early Americas exhibit (which is currently traveling).

“Wonderful for a few minutes or a few hours!”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Since this is a free attraction. We stop by when we have time in between other planned events or dinners. We usually do a floor at a time. It is so much to soak in at one time. Backpacks are not allowed. They do have a coat check area to place your backpack.

“A Baltimore treasure”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Baltimore has many interesting activities and attractions, but one of the best is the Walters Art Museum. For one thing, it's free, except for special exhibits, which makes it really easy to take the whole family. Also, while it's not an enormous museum, their different collections are quite eclectic and interesting, and there are pieces of art for everyone. There's also a nice little cafe and a good gift shop. If you're going with small kids, take a minute to pick up one of the treasure hunt maps they hand out; looking for clues and items on the map can be a lot of fun for a kid who might otherwise get overwhelmed or bored. It's also a nice place to go by yourself if you're feeling contemplative and quiet, or with a Special Someone if you want to wander the galleries and feel connected.

Although there's not a lot of parking (there are some pay to park garages not too far away, though), the museum is on the free Charm City Circulator route, so it's easy to get to from anyplace near downtown, the harbor, or Mt. Vernon.

“Good afternoon break”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Wide range of artefacts for all tastes. Interesting Egyptology section. Coffee shop a bit basic. I went looking somewhere when I needed a rest and a coffee.
