The Hotel Limpia
Ranked #4 of 7 Fort Davis B&B and Inns
Reviewed March 19, 2013

Rustic, quant and very relaxing atmosphere. Our group of three rented a suite at the Hotel Limpia and we are having a great mini vacation. We were in need of rest and relaxation and this is just place. The staff is fun and helpful and we are enjoying sitting on our rocking chairs on our private porch and reading in a tranquil environment. Our two bedroom, two bath suite is very large and has everything that we need. The only critisism is the carpet in our suite which needs to be replaced or better yet, taken out to reveal the wood flooring underneath. Simple but nice breakfast available each morning at the Blue Mountain Bistro and great complimentary coffee available each morning. If you are looking for a new and modern hotel with a bustling environment, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a historic, quant hotel in which to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Ft. Davis, the Hotel Limpia is your place. The fixtures etc. have some wear which some other reviewers have complained about but who cares! All three in our party would stay here again and in fact, plan on it.

This was a return trip, as I enjoyed our last stay so much. Stayed in Room 29-- very comfortable and nice size, with a comfortable bed. The staff is incredibly friendly. The hotel has a nice blend of old charm and modern convenience. Great breakfast at the Bistro. Also really liked eating at the drug store across the street. Check out the local library right next door. the building has been restored, with lots of history still in place.

Clean, perfect location, super friendly staff, reasonable price. Stayed two nights. Very comfortable bed. Tuxedo the cat was a great addition to the ambience. Parking was convenient and close. Courtyard and garden seating was nice for relaxing.

Stayed here two nights to attend an event in Fort Davis and Marfa. It is a fun place and a good value for Fort Davis. We stayed in the main building which is in decent shape, floors are a little unlevel but that adds to the charm. Decent bathroom, the room was rather small however. We were in Room 22 and I would recommend one of the odd numbered rooms across the hall to get better morning sunlight and a better view. Great bar and a nice little restaurant for quick breakfast and complimentary coffee or you can walk across the street to the Drug Store to eat which was fun.

Room Tip: Ask for one without a view of the rooftop. Odd numbered rooms might be better.

We reserved a room at this hotel. I didn't know anything about the section called Hotel West across the street, which is where we were. Maybe the rooms in the main hotel are worth staying in, but make sure you aren't in the West section. We were the last room of the corridor. The room was very small. The ironing board was stuck open and in the open closet, along with a fold out bed. We barely had room to hang up our clothes. The heating was a nightmare, so we turned it off. The comforter was so heavy, it could have been filled with weights. The sheets are very worn and thin. The TV was very old and the reception was quite bad. The shower curtain was so long, that when I took a shower, it just soaked up the water. How can this be clean? Don't expect a hot shower, as it only got lukewarm. The toilet flushes very poorly, so expect to flush twice. We had 4 windows in the room, 2 of which were covered in vines, so there was no view. 1 was the view of the roof outside our room, and the other was a view of a broken toilet, bathtub and table with no chairs. Not the romantic atmosphere I was hoping for. The posted price for the room on the door was not what was charged. I understand it was a peak season, so put a range on the price or don't post the price at all, so people don't have the wrong information. I wished I had stayed somewhere else, and I will the next time.

We are sorry that the guest was not satisfied with their room. Any mechanical difficulties that the guest experienced were never reported to us, making it difficult to correct them! Our rooms in Limpia West are our lowest priced rooms and are simple, but clean and well furnished. I'm not sure how much space the guest expected for the price paid, but the room is quite spacious by most standards. Our linens are of an excellent quality. Perhaps the guest was not used to sleeping under a comforter. Extra blankets are provided in all rooms if a guest desires a lighter weight covering. We do apologize for the view of left over construction materials, as we were just completing a renovation project and some materials had not been cleared away from the rear of the property. These have now been removed. The television is small, however we find that most guests do not spend much time in their rooms watching television given the outdoor recereation opportuniities that abound in the Fort Davis area. This room has, ironically, been requested several times in the last year due to its corner position (extra windows) and quiet location. We hope that the guest will give us another opportunity to provide excellent service in the future.

My husband and I, along with our three boys, stayed two nights at the Hotel Limpia. I have never been a fan of historic hotels, but I absolutely loved this place. It is immaculate with tasteful renovations that maintained its charm. I didn't hear much noise from other guests, although hotel was full. Lots of sitting areas and games to play. The staff was very friendly and attentive. One thing to note is that there is a resident cat named Tuxedo.

This is one of the better "old hotels" in which I have spent much time. We were there for a week in late August, bicycling and hiking. The service was great. Coffee on a summer morning on the veranda can't be beat. Very historic and welcoming place.
