“Great food and service with a smile”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

Family stayed at Indian Lodge on a long weekend for my father-in-laws 60th birthday and ate at this conveniently located restaurant at the lodge. 8 of us ate here for breakfast each morning and the occasional lunch. None of us had a complaint at a single meal. We never had to wait long for our orders to be taken (unless we asked for more time) nor for our food to come out after ordering.

The servings are large, the food surprisingly good, and the prices were reasonably priced if not a bit cheap. The staff were all friendly and didn't mind at all when some of the couples would come in later than the others and order at different times.

To the people complaining about the service not being fast....... what do you expect? This is a restaurant at a lodge in a park in the middle of nowhere. If you want to order, eat, and get out inside of 15 minutes then go find a McDonalds. You came here to relax and get away not rush around like Speedy Gonzales, it's not like there's a lot that you could even rush to get to in the area anyways.

When we return to Ft Davis we'll definitely be staying at Indian Lodge and dining at the Black Bear again.

“Oso Negro is Oso OK”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2013

Big breakfasts of eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, biscuits, coffee . . . not a complaint to be had from our whole group. Prices are certainly reasonable and the fresh air along with a little hiking to the top of the adjacent hill, ensured that appetites were up. Was this a contributing factor to our gustatory appreciation of the morning's cuisine? M-a-ybe!? We ate our noon (if any after those big breakfasts) and evening meals elsewhere so no comment about other meals.
We were definitely grateful to have such an overall satisfying restaurant on site though to boost energy levels for full days of activity while there. Service was as good as the wait folks were genuine and cordial . . . and they were . . . very!!.

“Still slow”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2013

The dinner menu has been changed, fewer items and a bit higher prices. Service is still slow, but I don't think it is the servers at fault. An hour and a quarter for cheesburger and fries? We had the chicken fried steak the next night and it was fine, but it was served with a roasted potato and brussel sprouts. Even President Bush didn't like brussel sprouts. They change the type of potato served daily, we were told.

“nothing special for lunch”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

Ate lunch at the restaurant and they had a few choices caffeteria style that were not too exciting. We had the pasta which was adequate. The evening menu looked much more interesting but did not try it.
