Mountain Trails Lodge
Certificate of Excellence

Just returned from a three day/two night stay and highly recommend this property. The cabins are clean, comfortable and roomy and the service was so personable and friendly. The food is also wonderful! It is all homemade and really good. While driving around the entire area, including Marfa, Alpine and areas near the Observatory I must say Mountain Trails looked the best!

Room Tip: They are all equally good!

One of the very best stays I have ever had! Scott and Jenny bend over backwards to answer any question you may have and assist you with any problem you could ever encounter. They went out of their way to help me find a Dog Kennel for Rosie The Wonder Dog who has special needs. With Scott & Jenny, no problem. They made a few calls and---problem solved! You can not ask for better service anywhere! From suggestions and advise on where to hike to places to eat, they are the friendliest, most knowledgeable, and helpful people I have ever met on a trip. Oh, and the food! I am on a serious crash diet now till Christmas! Do NOT miss the Sunday Brunch that is so good even the locals are going. The cabins are nice, small, and come with a view that is nothing short of wonderful. Perfectly located for day trips to Marfa, Alpine, or even Big Bend. I can not say enough about the quality personal service I received. You can stay somewhere else and spend a lot more money, but you will never find a better breakfast and great down-home hospitality!

Room Tip: The most spectacular sunrise views are on the East sides of the Rooms

This was a beautiful, peaceful setting. The accommodations were excellent. The "cabin" had a large sitting room, a large sleep room (2 beds), and a spacious bathroom.
There were mountain views from the front and back windows of the cabin and the outside temperature was perfect (esp. for August) for hiking and other outdoor activities. There are sitting areas outside the cabins and the star gazing is fantastic.
We'll definitely visit here again.

Room Tip: ADA accommodations are quite limited. You need to plan and make reservations way ahead of your trav...

I was not in the least disappointed at my little "cabin" at Mountain Trails Lodge. The room was roomy, clean, comfortable. The simple little air conditioner/heater took care of temperatures during the heat of the day or the cool of the night. The mountain view was excellent. Be sure to take a yard chair for the front porch because sitting out there to watch the sun go down and the stars come up is the best time ever, at least for me. It's also quiet, my favorite! Jenny and Scott made me feel like part of the family at the unbelievably sumptious Sunday buffet, and there was great conversation all around. If I had one "complaint" (and I hesitate to say complaint, because that would indicate unhappiness!), it would be that there is no lavatory in the tiny bathroom, thus no mirror accessible for very-tall me for fixing hair or even taller/rounder friend for shaving! The kitchen sink is available for that, but ... no mirror! One could argue that on vacation, one shouldn't focus on vanity, so ... I guess I'll have to let that one go. I will be back, and soon, and often.

Room Tip: The first cabin as you enter is the closest to the highway, so you might hear cars passing. If ther...

When you book a place on-line you do not know what you are getting; however, we were extremely pleased with Mountain Trails Lodge - by far, the best place we have found in a long time. Jenny and Scott say personnally to our every need and the free gas grill that was available allowed us to grill ribeye steaks. The breakfasts prepared by Scott and Jenny were outstanding in every detail! We loved the Davis Mountains and Mcdonald Observatory and plan on coming back. And of course, we will certainly stay at the Mountain Trails Lodge with its outstanding view again!!!

This is our second time to stay at Mountain Trails Lodge. We travel with our two dogs and enjoy the location which feels remote but is just a quick trip from the main drag in Ft. Davis. The rooms are clean and we just enjoyed sitting on the little front porch of the room and enjoying sunset, sunrise and stars at night.

Very friendly staff. Very nice and clean lodge with very comfortable beds. Very nice view. Wonderful breakfast the next morning. There was a little goof which caused us to be billed twice for the room, but Jenny got right on it and got it cleared up. I certainly would recommend this place for your visit to Fort Davis.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the landscape instead of facing the office
