Davis Mountains Inn

Reviewed January 22, 2013

Since my husband is working in Fort Davis area, I decided to visit him for a long weekend. We looked at Travel Advisor and saw the wonderful reviews of the Davis Mountains Inn and made reservations for Saturday night. Upon arrival we were met by the Inns owner; Nancy, who was so warm and welcoming, we immediately knew we would enjoy our stay. Our suite was incredible with beautiful views and quiet surroundings. The bed was so comfortable, the jacuzzi relaxing, the ambiance perfect. Our breakfasts were yummy and we were lucky enough to have Nancy and her husband Bill join us. Great food, great conversation, great surroundings. I had been surprised to find out that my husband extended our stay an additional night so we were able to make our fabulous experience last even longer. We can't wait to go back. Thank you Bill & Nancy!

Room Tip: Sorry.... hit the Swimming Pool by mistake.....

What a pleasant and beautiful surprise to find this B&B. It was so beauitful from the moment we drove up, wishing we could stay longer.

What a welcoming sight when entering. A huge Christmas Tree in the two story living area. The lights twinkling and to be awaken with the smell of fresh bread baking in the morning. We had a wonderful nights rest with the stars larger than we had ever seen. The skies dark and the stars 'huge'.
Our bed was extremely comfortable, quiet room. We felt like we had gone to "grandmother's house', once again. There was so much love. Bill and Nancy welcomed us and visited with us like we were long lost friends at the breakfast table. We both enjoyed the breakfast buffet... all you can eat. Meat, eggs, homemade bread, pancakes one morning, hashbrowns, fruit, yogurt and the list goes on. Coffee was ready by 7 AM. What a treat.
We did not want to leave. We will be back again for another restful 3 days... or longer when possible.

Room Tip: Check to see availability on the internet or call ahead. Weekdays are usually not as busy. McDonal...

We decided to break up a 12-hour drive on I-10 with a visit to Davis Mountains Inn. What a great decision! The scenery enroute was beautiful. Our room was perfectly decorated, the breakfast was delicious, and the location is close to so many interesting sites. We'd definitely consider a second visit.

This was our 20th visit to the Fort Davis area since 1982. We have stayed at various properties over the years but this was without question the best accommodations. The Master Suite was the perfect choice for us with its king bed, jacuzzi tub and doors opening onto the back porch with its spacious back yard. The home cooked breakfast was always a great start to the day. We enjoyed visiting with Bill and Nancy, the owners, about the happenings in the area since our last visit. The purpose of our trip was to refresh, recharge and refocus. The Davis Mountains Inn was a perfect complement to accomplish those goals.

New Facility with Old World Charm for sure! When we walked in the door, all we could say was "Ahhhh". The huge chandelier shining from the second story welcomed us into this more beautiful than the internet pictures revealed. The " baked goodies" on the kitchen island were so inviting and delicious as we visited in the 30' high ceiling living area. The grand piano was begging to be played. Our room was beautifully done with our bed SO comfortable.... we slept like a dream... a good dream. To be awaken with the aroma of fresh baked bread wafting into our bedroom, and the smell of fresh brewed coffee, caused us to get dressed and see what else was going on. What a treat to visit with the other guest and especially Nancy as we enjoyed a real country breakfast. We overindulged for sure. So much good food, we had to try everything. It seemed we were living a dream and did not want to wake up. Our stone walk-in shower was a real treat.... big enough for two. Nancy is such a cheerful, happy person. She made us feel so special, like we had always known her. We did not want to leave. Thanks for a more than grand experience. We will be back for sure!! P. S. we loved the water fall in the back gardens.... so peaceful.

The Davis Mtns. Inn is a wonderful base for your forays into the Ft. Davis, Marfa, Alpine and McDonald Observatory areas. All are within easy reach.

Two of the Inn's suites are very large and the other rooms are comfortably sized. With six bedrooms sleeping up to 14, this would be a good place for a gathering of family or friends. There are two living areas, one part of a two bedroom suite, and the other, the main living room, a common area. The kitchen is also very large and in the common area. The Inn was in immaculate condition for our stay. The landscaped grounds in the back are lovely despite a very hard summer and the fires that surrounded the Inn only 5 months earlier. Unlike the websites of other B&Bs and inns, the DMI website photos accurately portray the Inn and its accommodations.

We stayed in the Sleeping Lion Suite which is huge. Highly recommended. Comparing the accommodations and the price with other options in the area, the DMI is a bargain.

The Inn is owned by Bill and Susan Davis (yes, that Davis). We met Bill, who is a gracious host.

Re dining. Breakfast was prepared by Angela who came in every morning to fix a full breakfast as you wish. I understand you can also go into town (1/2 mile) to the Drug Store, tell them you're at the Inn and you'll get breakfast for free. The Drug Store is a good choice for any meal. Murphy's serves good pizza and great salads. They're both recently acquired by the Davis's, good news for those who want to eat in Davis. The Limpia Hotel restaurant is closed for renovations, not much of a loss considering its poor reviews.

One final point: the Inn is immediately adjacent to an RV park. This creates an unfortunate first impression when approaching the Inn. But the park is small and clean, and the seniors occupying the RVs didn't seem to be hard core, late night partiers as we never heard any noise. ;)

Room Tip: The Sleeping Lion Suite is the best one for a couple. Bedroom is very large, BR is huge with Jacuzzi...
