The tour starts in the visitor center with a short movie, then on to the Enlisted men's barracks. The barrack is set up like it was when the fort was built in the 1880's. Most of the fort is in ruins but some of it has been restored, like the enlisted barrack, commissary, part of the hospital and a couple of houses. While you are experiencing history the bugles sound at designated times, reenacting what the soldiers heard back when the west was wild. Fort Davis was on the San Antonio-El Paso road. A 600 mile road people traveled going from the east to the west. Fe infants of this road are still present at the fort. In the enlisted barracks a docent answered questions and he was dressed in attire that a so,diner would have worn at that time.
