“Great”

Stayed here last February and found it quaint, comfortable, and relaxing and nice. Cottage #2 met my needs. Always take a "picnic" cooler and "stash" when traveling so had a great in room meal when not at The Old Drugstore, Black Bear restuarant at Indian lodge, or a couple other places.
Will stay here next time. Have been visiting Fort Davis at least twice a year for the past 45 years, staying in assorted places. Long way to get here but beautiful.

Better than a one room hotel is the Butterfield Inn. #5 room is located on the main road in very close proximity to the famous drug store and other quaint shops but it's a comfortable four-room house/cottage with all the necessary amenities and the best "cabin' we've experienced in a tiny town! We were so lucky to have found it and want you to love it too!

We stayed one night for the Star Party at Mcdonald Obseratory. The room fit our family of 4 fine. The room was clean and spacious. Our children ages 5 and 7 slept on the fold out bed. The front office was a great help and even came out and unfolded the bed and set it up with sheets. We did have a cottage in the back off of the street. I think we had room 4. We walked to the deli approx. 3 blocks to the south to eat and had dessert at the General Store about 2 mins from out cottage. We did not notice any noise (other than thunder and lightning from a passing storm). We would stay there again if need be.

Room Tip: We had room 4, it had a double bed and twin pull out sleeper chair, located in the back courtyard.

Cottages are loud, right on the busy main road through town. Also, we heard everything from the cottages around us. Rooms themselves are nothing special, about on par with a Motel 6, Bed were hard and uncomfortable.

Nothing to do in town besides the fort. We stayed here because we tried to book at Indian Lodge too late. Next time we'll go there, prices are the same. I wish we had skipped it and gone elsewhere for our Big Bend family vacation.

We stayed at the Butterfield Inn for the minimum two nights specified, over the Spring Break.

The room was furnished as you might expect with antique, as the inn owner also ran an antique shop on the same premises.

No breakfast is provided but there is an excellent deli a couple of minutes up the road which has great quality produce.

The cottages are located in the centre of the town and it felt very safe to walk around the locality in the evening.

A major negative for us was the property was extremely dusty and my husband had to damp dust the tops of the pictures, ledges and fireplace etc, along with blocking the gap under the door at night to try to address the problem. We did try to raise this issue with the innkeeper on the 2nd day but the gentleman on duty was busy with other clients. We would not recommend the property for people with respiratory problems.

Room Tip: Choose a room other than 4 as this is opposite the road and is therefore more prominent to attract d...

Butterfield Inn is an old butter yellow building right on a corner in Ft. Davis. There is a charming old antique shop where you inquire about a cottage. The proprietor is friendly and helpful. The cottage is amazingly spacious with an iron bed, table with coffee makings, a couch and wingback chair, fireplace and charming wall hangings. The shops and restaurants are within walking distance

Very clean and quiet. Property is well kept. Garden area has seating and was landscaped with flowers. Room was immaculate and absolutely everthing in the room worked to perfection. We were planning to stay one night but booked a second night to enjoy the area. Would return to the Butterfield again.
