Grand tanker ships pass right by your window. Best prices seem to be directly through the hotel site. Good descriptions and options. Our large room had a fireplace and located on the river side of the hotel. Excellent staff, good morning continental breakfast. A surprise was the hosted wine and appetizer event held each night. Ample free parking. Close walk to the tourist railcar, which goes to the maritime museum.

This hotel is only 8 years old, so everything is very modern with lots of light in all the rooms. It is set up a little like a B&B, in that the "lobby" area is designed for both viewing the incredible scenery and meeting other travelers. The so-called "continental" breakfast includes the usual cold cereals, juices, make-your-own waffles and individual fruits, as well as several kinds of yogurt (including my favorite, Greek), a beautiful fruit salad, fresh-from-the-bakery exquisite donuts, and so much more. Each evening at 5, there is wine and hors d'oeuvre until 6 and it was quite lovely. We were only there one night but were able to see up close and personal several big ships coming in or going out, sailing right under our noses. Our room was more like a suite--so luxuriously appointed and with such ample room. The best part of the room is the window seat with binoculars at the ready and the little balcony looking out on the wide river. We heartily recommend this place.

Room Tip: Go during the winter during the week and book for two nights in a row--lowest rates this way.

This wonderful hotel in Astoria was a marvellous experience and hope one day to return. From the adequate breakfast to afternoon salmon and wine plus home made cookies at 8pm.The wonderful Cadlilac to take you for your choice of evening meal in town.Bicycles for the fitter person. But oh the views from your window without getting out of bed>felt the ships were coming into your bedroom.!!

Room Tip: only fault were rooms too warm but we propped the door open after 1st night

The CPH has taste, style, warmth and attention to detail. I was greeted by very friendly, helpful folks in the beautiful lobby and proceeded to a room on the first floor over the water. The room was comfortable and classy with a fireplace, claw foot bathtub and a balcony. My friends and I saw seals feet from our balcony and watched huge ships go by. The hotel's attention to detail meant we had binoculars, a ship schedule as well as treats like a bottle of wine and chocolates. We took them up on the free ride in a classic car to any restaurant and walked back on the river walk. We drove to the beach at Warrenton, which is beautiful and were able to dry out with guest laundry. For me, a place like the CPH is a treat, and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants good views of the river, some beach time and good food.

Room Tip: The first floor for the balcony! Kings have window seats and double queens don't.

This place was the most awesome place I have ever stayed at. We had a room that was right on top of the mighty Columia River. We watched ships and sea lions pass by all day and night. The rooms were awesome, they even allowed pets and had a pet gift basket for our doggy. They had bikes to ride so we spent on day riding around town, even made it to the top of the hill! ( Not to bad for 60 huh?) I would recommend this place 100 times over and have. Enjoy your stay...

Room Tip: Get a room with a view!
