Balcony sits right over the water. Beautiful hotel, modern and very clean. They have an antique 56 Biscayne that take you to dinner and picks you up afterwards wherever you want in town. Great experience.

Having booked this through another website (not Cannery Pier Hotels website), our reservation got so messed up. We were very upset about it, but the staff was so accommodating!!! It wasn't even their mistake and they made everything right for us :) We were traveling with a group of people and required 3 beds but instead was put down for 2 beds. To make our stay comfortable, the staff moved us into the Penthouse!! One word to describe it - GORGEOUS!!! This hotel (even in the other room we were going to stay in) is just what you imagine a hotel should be. From the rooms, the views, the service (I cannot get over how sweet they are), the bicycles you can use to trek down the paths along the river, and the old cars they use to escort you where you need to be....this place has it all!!! If you need to escape from Portland or Seattle...or if you're just travelers from the NYC area like us, this place will not ever disappoint. The area is gorgeous too!!! Thank you again to all the wonderful staff that helped us in our time of need. We had the best sleep and got to really catch-up with the whole group because of the comfort of the living-room with its views of the river, the balconies, and large sofa couches, dining area, fireplace....just everything. THANK YOU!!! We will return again someday as a group but I know I can speak on my own by saying the next time I'm up in Seattle, I'll be sure to drive out to Astoria with a loved-one for a night away :) Thank you!!!

Room Tip: I know it might be a bit pricy, but the room on the top of the hotel is AMAZING!!! Don't get me...

Green Features: Instead of walking or taking a car, the hotel has these wonderful bikes to ride to their guests. We rode the whole trek along the river. It was soo much fun!! Stopped at a restaurant with various kinds of beers and just had a blast!! You see so much more when you're on a bike :) Love it!

First time in Astoria, really worth the price, even for one night. The views were breathtaking (room 107) and the service was amazing! I loved it! The rooms were amazing, claw foot tub, fire place, and beautiful balcony view! I will be coming back here again and again.

This facility is amazing! So beautiful and so well thought out, especially with the emphasis on providing guests with unrestricted views of the Columbia River. How can one not love and appreciate a hotel which provides guests with all the perks with no additional charges? Clearly, the owner has designed a hotel that caters to the wants and needs of the customers in every way he could imagine. Everything he has found special when he has been in a hotel is provided at his own.

Here are the perks we found especially delightful: free classic car rides into town for dinner, movie or whatever the guest wishes (3 classic cars!); evening wine/cheese/smoked salmon tastings in the lobby that brings guests together in an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere; daily print out information of the boats anchoring and/or passing by the hotel; use of bikes to tour the area; premium offerings for the continental breakfast that include perfectly ripe fresh fruit and premium coffees (they were offering espresso beverages and just getting that started during our stay); hot chocolate chip cookies in the evening hours. All the "eats" are in an alcove of the main lobby area, with a variety of overstuffed seats, tables and chairs and the incredible views of the river in the lobby. It is a very comfortable and inviting place to spend time and enjoy yourself.

Cutlery and real dishes and glasses at every food event. Early evening wine is individually poured and served in wine glasses. A talented staff sets up, serves graciously and cleans up. When servings are over, there is no sign in the lobby area that food had ever been there. Oh. And when guests arrived late for breakfast or for the wine and cheese hour.......the serving staff made sure the tardy guests still received everything they wanted. All the staff treats guests like they are their most cherished family members, regardless of the hours of service.

And the rooms....so well thought out. So spacious. Huge clean windows overlooking the river view and private balcony. Premium king size bed with premium linens and spread. Bathroom with both shower and claw foot tub Verbena scented soaps, shampoos and lotions. Plush towels. Plenty of towels.

Every detail is amazing. In room premium coffee for the coffee maker for those who don't want to go downstairs where there is always premium hot coffee waiting. Microwave and refrigerator concealed inside the combination sink/bar cabinet. Ever had a silent running in room refrigerator? Silent? Our was!

Comfortable loveseat for reading or TV viewing. In room table and chairs to snack at or work at. A comfortable window seat with binoculars for viewing river activities. High definition TV playing Direct TV.

One touch we especially loved was the large wooden louvered windows in the wall that divides the bathroom from the bedroom. We kept them open so we could look out and enjoy the unrestricted view of the river from the tub and shower. Very well thought out!

So--to sum it up--incredible room, wonderful warm staff, incredible perks one usually does not get at premium hotels. No need for a concierge because all of the staff members function as such. Maps, suggestions for dining and sightseeing. Personal favorites shared willingly.

We enjoyed the first night so much, we decided to extend for a second night. And the wonderful staff member at the reception desk told us a second night stay merited a discount price for both nights. Ever have a hotel give You a lower rate than what You had already agreed to pay? We did at the Cannery Pier Hotel.

This was the best stay we have ever had at any hotel. Far and away, this was the best facility with the absolute perfect staff and owner. This hotel is a guest's dream come true! BRAVO!!!!

We will be back. We WILL be back. We will BE back. We will be back!!!!!!

Room Tip: The highest number rooms on each floor put You closer to the 4+ mile bridge that spans the Columbia...

Green Features: They have several green policies, including donating food not used by guests.....this stands out for us as being both environmentally and people friendly!!!

I had a business trip to Astoria but was able to bring my wife along. The CPH was very good. Complimentary wine, cheese and smoked salmon was a nice touch, though the quality of all three was nothing special. An "Astorian Historian" addressed the group during happy hour. Sounded boring to me, but he was fabulous. All rooms face and are on the water, so there really isn't a bad room in the place. The higher the last two digits of the room number, the further from the lobby. The rooms are nicely appointed. Carpets in the hallway (especially on the first floor) need replacement. Ate at the Red Building across the parking lot. Excellent steaks.

What a treat to experience a stay here for our 6th anniversary. Only a one night stay was available the weekend we could travel, but we checked in on time. After we settled in, we went down for the complimentary wine, cheese, and smoked salmon tasting. My husband said he'd never had such delicious cheeses! Next we used the complimentary vintage-style bikes to take a little ride down the riverfront. Then we came back and used the beautiful shower to freshen up for dinner. We chose a highly-rated restaurant right by the hotel, so didn't use their complimentary chauffeur service in a beautifully restored 50's era chevy, but many other patrons of the hotel did, and the chauffeur was very professional. After dinner we enjoyed some complimentary sparkling cider back at the hotel, had a soak in the beautiful clawfoot tub and then a restful night on a king bed with quality linens! I can't think of anything that would have made the stay any nicer, other than maybe a LONGER stay, but it didn't fit into our plans this time. We would definitely make a point to stay there again if we were back in the area, but reservations ahead are a must!

Room Tip: All rooms are river view on one side of the hotel. You can't go wrong!

My husband and I stayed at the Cannery Pier Hotel in early October. We were in Room 402 with a wonderful view of the mouth of the Columbia River and freighters going by that seemed close enough to touch.

The room was very comfortable with a fireplace and king sized bed. The bathroom had both a walk in shower and a tub. There were doors beside the tub that allowed a view into the bedroom area as well as to the outside water.

The hotel has a nice wine and cheese reception every night and a continental breakfast is included. The breakfast is more than just danish and coffee, there were cereals, yogurt, fruit salad, bread for toasting etc.

The staff were great, very personable and helpful.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great with views of the Columbia River
