This is our second time staying at this hotel and we will absolutely be back. The location is great and it is an easy drive to anywhere in Astoria from this hotel. Both times we have stayed here, we have had a room with a fireplace and a great view of the river. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is nice and quiet. The room where breakfast is served has a great view of the river as well. For the location and room, the rate can't be beat. The front desk staff is very friendly and attentive. You won't go wrong staying here.

On our recent trip to the US, we ventured down the coast and stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn. We were in Astoria for the "obligatory" Goonies site-seeing and this was a perfect place to stay. The hotel itself is in a great location (just off the bridge that links Washington to Oregon) and has plenty around it.
The hotel itself was pretty nicely appointed and our room was large and nicely furnished. We had a fantastic view of the bridge and harbour/river, and this was particularly to look at on dusk.
The staff were welcoming and very helpful in regards to helping us find the places we were looking for during out site-seeing. They also offered some great suggestions of other things to do as we made our way down the coast before heading inland to Portland.
Although we did not use it, the pool looked good enough for a quick dip but was pretty busy most of the time.
Being in a great location and being a nice, affordable family-friendly hotel, it was busy. Breakfast the next morning was pretty simple (your typical Holiday Inn Express breakfast) but the sheer number of people meant that the dining room was a little squashed and pretty loud. If you happened to get the timing of your arrival for breakfast wrong, you'd have to wait. Still, the staff seemed friendly and tried to help as much as possible when we observed this happening to some other guests and they never seemed to wait for too long.
If moving through Astoria, definitely give this hotel a go!

Room Tip: Ask for a high level and river facing - that's what we did and had a great room and lovely view!

This is my favorite hotel in Astoria. The waterfront rooms are amazing and right on the river. It's fun to watch the ships come in and out of port. I love the gas fireplaces. And they have suites which feature a kitchen, two bedrooms and lots of televisions - which is really nice if you're traveling with a bigger group. It's clean and comfortable. The staff is super helpful and the free breakfast is fairly good. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel.

We stayed here over spring break. Hotel was very nice and well kept. We had a riverside view room which had a great view of the bridge, river and the boats passing through. The pool was decent and my kids enjoyed it. Internet was fast and connected no problem. I would stay here again and recommend it to my friends and family.

At dusk, we went out by the river and I took a photo of the sunset and the bridge that is hanging on the wall in my Kitchen. Very nice views of the bridge and water.

The reason we stayed here was to visit the filming locations for the movie Goonies. The hotel was close to all the locations in Astoria.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the river and try to get on the top floor.

What a pleasant surprise! Our rooms were 4th floor, riverside, and WOW, great views. You can watch the huge ships and tugs working the river; the lights are beautiful after dark. The river walk path is right in front of the hotel, as is the trolley. Good restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops easily within walking distance. The rooms were exceptionally clean and felt luxurious. Good indoor pool and breakfast room with (again) that great riverfront view. The staff was helpful and welcoming. With all that -- they provide plastic cups in the rooms and styrofoam in the breakfast room. Why? That was the one complaint -- not bad!

Room Tip: Select river side

Nice location on the Columbia River, near all the shops and restaurants in town. Clean, well maintained. Holiday Inn Express has one of the best complimentary breakfast offerings of the mid-priced chains -- I had biscuits and gravy and make-your-own hot pancakes, along with their well known cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit, muffins, juice, etc. Pool/hot tub area was spacious and well kept. Wifi in the rooms, and flat-panel TVs showing the local stations in hi-def . We even got a fireplace room overlooking the waterfront, just by asking!

Room Tip: We were on the second floor, and had a complaint from the guests below us that our kids were stompin...
