“Great Stay”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

This is a newer Hampton Inn that is tastefully decorated and one of the nicer Hampton Inns that I have seen. With large windows in the dining area, and a beautiful location on the water, with an outdoor seating area to watch the boats and of course the sea lions. Easy to walk out to the pier for great food and a craft beer at the Rogue Public House. Close to downtown as well. Rooms facing the water have a balcony and a door for fresh air. Friendly staff. I would stay here again.

What a beautiful newer hotel. We had a wonderful view of the ships coming in and out and yes the sound of the sea lions but if you close your door you don't even know they are out there. The staff is very friendly and the place is super clean. It is a little bit away from the downtown area but that has its good points too. There is a nice brewery just across a little bridge and a great walking path right behind the hotel. It is on the trolley stop also. Be sure and take in the Astoria Column and the Columbia River Museum.

Dear wanderingwonders,

We are grateful to you for taking the time to write a review regarding your stay with us and your visit to Astoria. I agree with you about the wonderful view from your private balcony with a direct view of the Columbia River. The sunsets are breath taking from there and also from pretty much anywhere you may choose to stand on our property!
Thank You very much for choosing to stay with us here at The Hampton Inn & Suites Astoria Oregon. We hope to see you again soon.

Take Care,
Colleen Casper

I read most of the reviews of this Inn and booked it based on the view and was not disappointed.
As stated before there are seals and they do make a lot of noise....just close door....but it is nice to go out on the small balcony and watch the weather move in and out and those huge cargo ships as well as fishing boats. The breakfast is adequate with lots of things one can eat besides the egg dishes that change .....I personally love to make the waffles and put peanut butter and maple syrup on them. The fresh fruit chunks were sweet and delicious. The trolley stops right out back and it was great just sitting and watching the town go by and picking up tourists off the cruise ships and talking to them.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north end are further away from the seals. Also, 4th floor is very quiet.

Dear AngeliqueSeattle,

I am so happy you chose to stay with us. Thank you for taking the time to write your review about your experience here at the Hampton Inn & Suites, Astoria Oregon. The Sea Lions are a permanent fixture on the banks of the river that's for sure! Thank goodness for the special sound proof material that was added onto our building to shut out the barking of the Sea Lions. Yes, you are right, as long as the windows and doors are shut you can't hear them. Thank You for choosing to stay with us. We hope you come back again soon!

Kind Regards,

Colleen Casper

My wife and I stayed in their king balcony suite, river view. About the only noise was from the bark of the sea lions. Large single room with kitchen area, living room area and work desk as well as the bed/bath area. Well kept. Free breakfast. Free parking. Helpful staff. It is a property I would stay at again.

Room Tip: The river view room provides a nice view as well as minimizes traffic noise.

Based on other reviews, we paid the extra to have a river view room which we thought was totally worth it! The view from our top floor room was amazing!

The sea lions do indeed "bark" all night, but with the balcony door closed and the "white noise" of the heater fan, they did not disturb our sleep.

The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. Everything was well-maintained. Breakfast was great and had a good variety to choose from. The front desk staff was personable and helpful in recommending a good choice for dinner. We will definitely stay here again next time we're in Astoria (and hopefully be able to stay for more than one night next time!)

We are Hilton Honors members and by far, this is the best Hampton Inn regarding room size and comfort that we've ever stayed in. We stayed on the 4th Floor in a King Studio Suite(upgraded upon arrival as a Gold Member) with a Balcony facing the River. Nice big room with lots of space, very comfortable bed, very quiet and overall a very relaxing and pleasant stay. The only reason I'm not giving this hotel a 5 Star rating is due to the breakfast. Typical standard Hampton Inn breakfast with pre-made omelets and the standard fare. This hotel needs to really look at it's breakfast offerings if it wants to be at the top of any hotel list in Astoria, Oregon. Other than less than ideal breakfast, I highly recommend this hotel while you're staying in Astoria. Oh, and by the way, the indoor pool is salt-water and very enjoyable.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the River on the top floor are best. Try and get a studio suite upgrade if you are eith...

My family (husband, son 9, daughter 7) wanted a quick get away to the beach- this is the first time we stayed at this hotel (newest hotel in Astoria). Perfect is all I have to say- we booked a river view suit with the balcony and it was well worth the extra $. We've stayed at many hotels in Astoria, and I would count this one very close to the cannery pier- although, this one is better for families. Everything was very clean and very comfortable! I especially appreciate the salt water pool- perfect temperature, and no harsh chemicals. Staff were very friendly and helpful when asked about the Sunday market (don't miss it!). Overall I can't recommend one thing to improve on!

Room Tip: River view balcony suit- you can see the fishing vessels dock and hear the sea lions bark! Very spac...
