Just a few miles from Astoria, Oregon, and a fun ride on a motorcycle – with a grid bridge and lots of curves – is the Big O in Olney.
OK, there's not much more to this southern hamlet on 202, but this general store, bar and eatery makes up for not having neighbors or bling.
We stop for a drink or bite on our rides, and are never disappointed.
The drinks are dandy, the food just fine (especially the tacos on Taco Sunday). There is inside and outside eating, and weird outdoor lawn games when summer hits.
This is a great bar with house cat, fire pit, nice outdoor area for eating/drinking/smoking and lots of land around to keep from disturbing the neighbors.
The decor is eclectic and fun. Witness the wooden bird on top the chainsaw with only one leg. Check out the photos in the bathroom.
Yes, they sell and pump gas (Oregon means someone has to do it for you), but the limited menu they offer is tasty and the smiles are free.
Oh, yes, and many times. a groovy cat graces you with his presence. Very cool place and good times.
