The Crest Motel is a refreshing independently owned simple motel that a corporate franchise would have let fall to pieces decades ago. Very careful proactive maintenance allows guests spectacular views of the Columbia from modestly priced rooms. The rooms face away from the parking so the views are unobstructed.

The motel sits atop a grade on Highway 30 a few miles east of town so that you must travel by car rather than walk to venues in Astoria. This is the motels only negative. The rooms are roomy and basic, but since the views are the primary focus, it’s not a concern. Cleanliness isn’t 5-star but it seems that many guests may also engage in the fantastic outdoor activities in the area and possibly drag the outdoors back to their room as we did.

My only wish was that our second floor balcony was divided from the others so it would not ever be necessary to close off the fantastic view with drapes to have privacy. Maybe some fire code prevents that.

We wanted a quiet, relaxing retreat after a day-long flight and drive - The Crest fit the bill perfectly. The room was clean and comfortable, and had an incredible view of the Columbia River and the bay. The desk staff made a couple of wonderful recommendation for dinner and supplies for items that didn't survice the airline baggage handlers.

The Fairmont it isn't - but it very nicely met our needs and then some. I would definitely recommond staying here.

We have been staying at the Crest, (every time we get a chance) for the last eleven years. The view is the BEST, any where. Although the motel is not new, the rooms are large, comfortable, and in the probably two dozen times we have stayed there, absolutely clean!. We enjoy the hot tub overlooking the Columbia, and look forward to a weekend getaway to Astoria every time we get a chance. Travelers and road warriors alike will enjoy this good value. We have the Crest programmed in our phones

Great View of the Columbia River and Astoria Bridge however the windows are very dirty. Stayed in Room 16 lower level. Very large room with handy refridgerator and microwave, however neither had been cleaned. The bathroom has mold around the baseboard and tub. Furniture has tears and carpet has burn holes. The carpet had crumbs and food debri, so was not vaccumed prior to our arrival. The view is worh the stay and the price is right. There is a small jacuzzi but did not use it. A nice patio with chairs and tables and a decorative fountain. Overall, this is a good stay, just needs a good cleaning!

We love the Crest Motel. My son and I stayed there first, then our family of 4! We will take this over most beach front motels. It is a simple fair, nice staff, clean, and the bagles were appreciated! Also, they dole out a great view of the Columbia River!! We will be back!!!!

The Crest was a wonderful place to stay. We spent three nights there and it was all a good experience. Very clean and comfortable. Quiet with a spectacular panoramic view of beautiful scenery whether you're in your room, in the hot tub , sitting by the fountain or just walking the grounds. Staff service was above and beyond accomodating and friendly. Another plus is that the setting is natural and close enough to downtown to be convenient yet not surrounded by parking lots and buildings. Reasonable rates. We're looking forward to our next stay there.

I love the Crest.! As a dog owner I know first-hand how unwelcoming the world of vacation lodging can be. Not so at the Crest! I was a woman travelling alone with a Border Collie, and actually called at the last minute in high summer to switch hotels from a place where I felt unsafe. They were so nice and LOVED DOGS that they gained my devotion. The desk clerk talked alot about her "Grand Dogs" and I knew a kindred spirit when I met one. They let me leave my trained dog crated in my room for a few hours to see a few museums ( a real rarity among hotels and motels), and promised to take him out if there was a fire (I'm a very worried dog ma). On a non-dog note, the room was clean and I was totally happy. Sitting with my best dog in an Adirondack chair watching the river go by was the best. I'm coming back to Astoria in December and you can bet I'll be calling the Crest.
