“Stay for the view!”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

The Crest is a great location for a quiet stay and a great view. We didn't pay extra for a view room, but sat in the hot tub overlooking the river for sunset. We could see all the way to the Cape. What a great way to end the day.
The rooms are somewhat dated, but ours was clean and sufficient for sleeping. Staff was pleasant and gave us suggestions and a coupon for dinner.

In Astoria we stayed @ the Crest Motel on the bluff overlooking the town, the river and Cape Disappointment. We requested and got a RIVER view on the second floor so we watched the sun set as we sipped cocktails and had hors- d'oeuvre."NOTE: ASK FOR RIVER VIEW"
PRICE $94.00 for 2 Queen Beds...Loved the location,view,accomaditions...Breakfast was only coffee and muffins and you could not hear the water lapping against the shore but you could hear the sea lions.

Room Tip: As stated above...get a room overlooking the river...NORTH SIDE

We drove to Astoria on our trip north, with no reservations but just a plan of wait and see what we can find and passed by several on the (noisy)highway motels in town, two pricey hotels and were surprised to find Crest Motel north of town, surrounded by lush trees and a gorgeous view of the River from our room. We stayed because the rate was reasonable. The room is very large, with large sliding patio door and deck, to look out and enjoy the river. The flowers blooming provide a sweet fragrance. I couldn't have done a better job if I had tried to plan this.

Its been a long time since we stayed at a motel, but on an overnight fishing trip a friend recommend this small hotel just outside of Astoria proper. We took a chance hoping it would do for the night. BOY were we pleasantly surprised to find it affordable and very clean. Some of these independent motels have an antiseptic smell to them, but not this one, it was just plain clean! There is a view of the Columbia River, and a small grassy area with tables and chairs and a water fountain in the middle. There was an outside Jacuzzi, and a continental breakfast though we didnt have the time to enjoy either. It's nothing fancy but very clean.

Room Tip: Some rooms have view, some don't.

We have stayed at this motel many times and it has always been a pleasure. The rooms are dated, but they are clean, well maintained and the linens are always fresh. This motel is a good buy. The owner is always friendly. The view is spectacular.

Room Tip: Best views are from the second floors of the first two Bluildings.

This motel is outside of town but we found it more quiet and peaceful.  We had the view room and it was very spacious with a separate sitting area and an awesome view of the water thru sliding glass doors.
Bathroom amenities included shampoo and body lotion.  Room had microwave, refrig, coffee maker with tea and coffee packets. Beds were pretty comfortable. Free wifi but couldn't connect (the laptop did tho- slow speed). Also motel had complimentary breakfast.
Downside is that the shower control didn't work very well- water was either scalding hot or ice cold- after fiddling around for a length of time, I was able to get the water to a fairly comfortable temp.
Decor 70's but well maintained.
All in all, we would definitely come back

I discovered the Crest Motel many years ago, and it remains my favorite primarily because of the view. The rooms are older than the new motels, but in comparison, I will always choose Crest. The hot tub is wonderful, and the people are friendly.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the Columbia River. I prefer the second floor, but the first is nice, too.
