“Inexpensive, Clean, freshly painted.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Nice place, but very plain motel. If it weren't for the price of the rooms, I would have regretted not staying at the canary next door out on the pier with a view. The river walk is at the end of the walk at the far end of town and looks out on the harbor. Breakfast was gross, but the morning walk without any traffic was wonderful. Astoria is nice. If it's the only time you'll be visiting, maybe check out a different place. If you've been a bunch of time and want a cheap place to stay, stay at the riverwalk, just ask for one of their updated rooms.

Room Tip: ask for one of their updated rooms.

Over the years I've stayed at this motel when it was the Thunderbird, then the Red Lion, and now the Riverwalk Inn. I'm grateful to the operators trying to keep it running. It overlooks the West Basin boat harbor with a view of boats, the river, and the Astoria-Meglar Bridge. Can't beat that for a view. Having lived in the basin on my boat many years ago, I love to remember the 'old days'. I'm sorry the adjoining restaurant(s) were closed over the years but there is no shortage of places to eat. I did not partake of the continental breakfast as I was up and out early.

That said, the room was very clean, quiet, reasonably appointed, the bed was comfortable and at around sixty bucks all up for the night it was IMHO a good value. The balcony over the marina was still closed to access for my room but I expected that from other reviews. It is my understanding that they continue to renovate.

The room had what I expect in a reasonably priced motel room and I was a happy customer. It would have been nice to have the balcony windows washed on the outside so I could see the basin better. The heat adjustment knob on the thermostat for the baseboard heat was broken but I simply adjusted the heat by utilizing the stem as it was easy. I reported that to the office and expect it to be fixed by now.

Room Tip: I always prefer the top floor at any motel. That would be the second floor at the Riverwalk Inn.

The Service was good, Good location off the 101, the room was clean, but the bed was very uncomfortable. Could not get comfortable. We booked/paid for 2 nights and left a night early to return home for a better night sleep.

Room Tip: Breakfast ONLY, No WIFI in rooms, small TV channel selection.

Got a deal on the room for two nites. Bed was comfy, marina view, Microwave and mini fridge in room. Not much in walking distance in the winter, but summer you'd be willing to walk further. This deal included passes for three local museums with no expiration date! Continental breakfast was included. They also had free DVD loans and movies to borrow in the lobby!

All in all a pleasant stay, wish it had been warmer.

This hotel is located right by the Astoria bridge on the waterfront. The price per night is nearly half of other nearby newer hotels, and well worth it. The new owner and his son checked me in, and were very friendly and informative. The room was nice enough for me, although more discerning travelers might prefer the newer properties. Very clean room with all the amenities I needed for my trip. The soap and shampoo from Sister Sky was a nice touch! This hotel will be even more successful with future renovations, but I'll definitely be back. Free coffee and morning breakfast.

Room Tip: A balcony room is nice and puts you right on the edge of the water.

We stayed here for two nights. The staff was great upon check-in and we got fresh-baked cookies. The rooms are right on the marina and the view is spectacular - of the bridge and the ships. Breakfast consisted of waffles, toast, cereal, coffee, juice, and fruit. Wifi is free but only in the lobby. The lobby is a warm, inviting place and very cozy, though so it wasn't a problem. The breakfast area was never full and we were able to get a good table both mornings. The location was nice because it was right on the water but close to the downtown attractions. The room was clean and spacious. I would definitely stay here again.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Free cookies at check-in, 24 hr. juice, water, and hot water in lobby, free DVD player and lots of movies to pick from, great waffles for breakfast. BEAUTIFUL location. So peaceful looking out on the marina. Very nice hotel for the price. Best hotel staff I have ever experienced. If you're looking for a good hotel at a reasonable rate, this is the one to book.

With a new operating team in place since September 2015, literally everything is new at the Astoria Riverwalk Inn. From the luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets, redesigned dining area and lobby adorned with local, original artwork; the addition of a continental breakfast; extensive landscaping and general updates throughout (including lots of fresh paint!), guests will gain a sense of renewed care and attention to detail.
