Good hotel. Nice staff, apologized for renos. Great tasty breakfast. Neat view of harbour and ship yard. Lights of path along water at night, beautiful. A little pricy under 200 for night. Could hear some noise from other rooms, doors etc. A little dark décor in room, but acceptable. Weird layout, sink in room, toilet and tub in a room. But ok, kind of handy for washing hands etc, if hubby was in toilet area.

Dear Joanna K,

Thank you for staying with us in Astoria. I do apologize for the renovations again and thank you for your patience with us. We are very fortunate to have such a close access to the water and a great path for your enjoyment. We realize that our lighting is a bit darker than normal and are changing this as many guests have commented on this area. We have already improved by adding 12 more lights to our breakfast area as well as five more to our lobby. We are adding additional lighting to our Business Center/Library as well as changing to daylight bulbs in our guest rooms to improve in this are.

Thank you again for staying with us and hope to see you again!

The room was very nice, with very comfy beds and good sound reduction between floors. The breakfast selection was very good and is included in the room. However, the room rate was way too pricey for the equivalent room. The hotel is near the river, but the back also looks onto a boat salvage/storage yard and is right next to U-Haul. So it is not the fanciest location upon arrival. Plus the hotel was bering renovated (exterior painting) when we were there (Aug 2013) so that made it look worse from the outside but we needed a place to stay, but I was glad it was only for one night. I felt ripped off on leaving even though I got asked for (and received) a reduced rate.

Room Tip: As for a room on the river side (versus parking lot side).

Dear MrsW777,

Thank you for your stay with us. It's never our intention to have any of our guests to leave feeling "ripped off" and I hope you will give us another chance to make this up to you in the future. While our location is not perfect it does allow us to be tucked away closer to the water and gives us access to the river view rooms. Please contact me directly so we can work on giving you a better experience on your next trip to the area.

We stayed on the fourth floor with a view of the columbia. We paid priceline 10.00 extra for a room with a view and when we got there, no room with a view! so i complained and got one! The hotel is nice but when hotels are doing construction they should tell you so you have a choice whether you want to deal with it, or give you a discount for the inconvenience of it. painting the outside so our views were covered for one of the days and the noise of the machines. we had a door right out of the elevator we could go to the car that would of been nice had it not been blocked of due to constuction. we had to help an elderly lady bring her things thru to her room. I was happy with the room and if you look out the back to the view we saw 2 bucks and a doe every day eating the blackberries. the shipyard goes with the territory of being down by the water we could look past that.

Room Tip: Top floor facing the river its nice to watch the big ships come in. Best western said they matched p...

Dear norab409,

Thank you for staying with us in Astoria. I do apologize about the construction while you were with us and thank you for your patience during our upgrades. The next time you stay I can assure you will be much better and more enjoyable as we have completed our construction at this time. I invite you to come back and book direct with us as well so we are able to accommodate you right the first time rather than having the confusion of booking through a third party and that can get confusing. I am glad to read that you had an enjoyable stay other than what you mentioned and look forward to having you come back to stay with us again.

Yes, well, the third story room with a wet bar, overlooking the water was basically, a slog up three tiers of steps (elevator under construction) and a view of a telephone pole. When I hear "wet bar" I think, enough space to have a few people in for cocktails..not so in this tiny space. Further, the previous 2 Best Western stays were SO great that this one was just short of a tragedy.

Dear Nhoffman_13,

Thank you for staying with us on your trip to Astoria. I do apologize that you did not enjoy your stay with us. We recently added our wet-bar rooms upon our remodel, complete with granite counters, sink and extra storage space for our extended stay guests. I hope we can find a room that better fits your needs the next time that you are in town. Thank you also for excusing our construction. We have completed our exterior upgrades as of now and invite you to give us another try.

Thank you and hope to see you again.

We stayed on the 2nd floor in room 244, which is at the end of the hallway, and has windows facing the boat yard as well as the Hwy 101 bridge over the bay. Very nice views, and the windows brought in a lot of light. We did hear people walking above us, so next time I'll try to get onto the 4th floor, and hopefully room 442 (to get a corner room again) - and being higher would make the views even nicer. Room included a microwave, coffee maker and a quiet fridge. For the indoor pool, kids have to be out by 10pm, which gives adults some "quiet time" afterwards :-) In addition, the hotel has a spa and sauna (1st floor), exercise room (2nd floor) and snack and/or soda machines on each floor. Ice machines are located on floors 1 and 3.

The hotel is located near the round-about by the Hwy 101 bridge. Heading toward Astoria's downtown, go through the round-about then look for Hamburg road which will be on the left. The driveway to the hotel is a little difficult to see... it will be on your left just before a "Do it Best" building with U-Haul vans parked in front of it.

Room Tip: As noted, try for end rooms that have two windows: 442, 344, 244 or 144. The higher up, the quieter...

Dear K M,

Thank you for staying with us in Astoria. Also, thank you for your great room tips for guests! The rooms that you mentioned are definitely our most requested rooms in the hotel. Our entrance is unique and we are aware of the signage being rather small. We are working to improve this by next year and hope to roll out a larger, better sign to make seeing our access even easier.

We look forward to having you stay with us again on your next trip!

My Stay at the Best Western was very good. The Breakfast is above average plus its free. The rooms are nice, but the bed was showing its age. During my last stay there, they were replacing the outer cover over the elevator, so there was a little mess. If there was one thing negative about this establishment, I would say it was the enterance. Its a little hard to find if you haven't been there before. Everything else met my expectations.

Dear James A,

Thank you for staying with us and giving us an honest review about your stay. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for pardoning our dust as we finished up our exterior improvements. We are located in a slightly peculiar location, however we also know that being tucked back allows a quieter and more comfortable stay for our guests.

We look forward to having you stay with us again in the future and thank you again!

The room we had in the hotel was updated and comfortable and quiet. We liked the location.
The breakfast provided eggs and sausage in addition to cold items which was nice. The eating area was way too small to accommodate the number of people trying to have breakfast. The construction did not bother us at all. The only problem we had was the very poor Internet service which prompted an average overall rating as Internet is important to us.

Dear Superagent84,

Thank you for staying with us in Astoria. We are glad to read that you had a pleasant stay other than the internet issue and breakfast space. We are working on updating our internet this fall to be even more reliable than our most recent upgrade. I hope that on your next trip to the area we will be able to provide you with an even better stay than before.
