“Fishermen's Festival-Meet and Greet @ Hotel”
Reviewed June 9, 2011

Check in with the hotel was pretty smooth. They were still cleaning them when I got there. They asked me to come back. But they were very pleasant. The room was quite nice with a mini fridge and microwave.
The only con to the stay was when they had a meet and greet there and people were rushed through with many people not even getting in front of the people doing autographs. Made one think that you were being pushed through like a herd of cattle. Was not well organized. Maybe if they held it for a little longer everyone that had paid to come to this would have gotten their money's worth seeing as only people staying at the hotel were allowed to partake in the meet and greet.

Room Tip: Try to stay in one of the rooms with the Bayview

This review is for a pet room. Perhaps, these are worse than regular rooms - not sure. The bathroom was dirty, with spots and dirt in the tub and on the bathroom floor. The sink was clogged. We were comforted by the smell of the bleach in the bed because at least it was disinfected. The window opened, which was nice (some places have locked windows). Also, the view of the river is more industrial (riverfront shipyard) than one of pristine natural beauty. That tends to be the theme of Astoria, though. Finally, the location is distant from restaurants and businesses. Not central to town at all. The Riverfront Trolley is close, however, (2 blocks away), and is a great Astorian experience. When all was said and done, we wished we would have paid more to try a nicer hotel OR I guess you get what you pay for, but sometimes you get even less than you expect. A standard Motel 6 or Super 8 would have been cleaner, cheaper, and a better value. A plus: internet was free and fast.

The location is not that good and the river view is a joke. The construction and the design of the building make one wonder what they were thinking! Wouldn’t want to be there in an earthquake or a tsunami. Everything has the feel of cutting corners and cheapness. Everything from the soap, towels, bedding,, even the breakfast. Way overpriced! The staff is kind of okay, just not that friendly. Hard to believe it was a Best Western! I won’t be back!

We came back to this hotel after staying here two years ago on our honeymoon, and it's even better than we remember! The front desk staff is helpful and friendly, making some great recommendations on what to do and where to eat. The rooms are beautiful due to the recent remodel, with a great on-the-water view of the Columbia River. My only gripe with the location is how hard it is to find the street at night, and the need to drive through some kind of U-Haul truck lot to get to their parking lot, but I can't see how they could fix that. I especially love the indoor pool open 24/7 for adults--so convenient! And it's a beautiful setting for a pool, too. The beds are great, as we spent a large portion of this vacation just napping in our room! And the complimentary breakfast was delicious, even though options are limited and I wish there had been more fresh fruit, I can't turn down waffles, eggs, and sausages every morning! Our room had intermittent internet signal, but that's usually a consequence of being on the top floor, and I was always able to use the business center when I needed to check my email. I can't wait to go back to Astoria again, and I'll definitely stay here when I do.

On behalf of our hotel staff, I am writing to let you know how delighted we were
to receive your kind words of praise of our Front Desk Staff and our beautiful rooms. I am glad that we had the pleasure of serving you.

Given the very nature of the hotel business, the hours are long and demanding. Day or night, good service depends upon people willing to give their very best at all times. That's why it's truly rewarding when a guest recognizes our staff’s efforts, and takes the time to say thank you.

We look forward to your return trip.

Sincerely,

Have stayed at BW Lincoln Inn several times. Its access in funky through a warehouse or something of the sort complex but the motel is fine. Has a great view of the Columbia and the bay to the west. Service is fine, full breakfast in the morning, and also is pet friendly which our 14 year old miniature Schnauzer sincerely appreciates. It is also quiet and sufficiently seperated from the 101 to avoid all traffic noise.

We have stayed in quite a few Best Western hotel throughout the U.S. in the last couple of years. The Best Western in Astoria, Or. was by far the nicest hotel in regards to quiteness and comfort. The Attendant at the desk (Seth). was very helpful and acommodating. I would certainly recommand this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in this area. We were certainly impressed.
