Enjoyed walking around the property and learning the history of the fort. The museum adds more details and even has a copy of a letter written the day after the shelling in the area by the Japanese in 1941. Too bad none of the housing remains, but photos in the museum show what it once looked like.

We had spent most of the day up at Cape Disappointment and points beyond. We really wanted to see the shipwreck, so we went in just for that. It's a piece of historic rusted metal in the sand.

We had a blast checking out the ship wreck! We took TONS of pictures and stayed there about an hour EXPLORING! :D and we found TONS of whole sand dollars on the beach! Very cool!

We were in Astoria and stopped by Fort Stevens, and were glad we did. The rest of what was left of the shipwreck was really cool to see. It was also cool to see the old concrete artillery bunkers, that were kind of spooky. I wouldn't recommend letting your children run free around up though. Lots of unstable railings and holes in the ground!
