This is a good bridge to look at and even better to drive over its 4 mile length. I'd heard its name was the bridge to nowhere so looked it up on the Internet and found the very interesting background to it. It's free to drive over and the views are good.

If you love a good road trip, this is a must add on. Its the road less travelled heading north up the coast.

AS you drive over the bridge the view both up the Columbia River and toward the Pacific Ocean is great on a clear day

This bridge isn't any old bridge. If you have a fear of crossing bridges, don't cross the Astoria Megler. It is 4.1 miles long and is only two lanes. It was built to withstand 150 mph winds which gives you a clue how stormy it gets out there with the Pacific Ocean meeting the Mighty Columbia River. There is lots to see and do on the Washington side and worth the drive.
