The lively public house offers family-friendly dining with made-from-scratch meals using organic, natural, and local ingredients. An upstairs Woodfired Pizza venue was opened in the Summer of '13 and operates all day on Saturdays and Sundays, from 4:30-10pm on Wednesdays-Fridays and is closed Monday and Tuesday. Beautiful views and woodwork. Tours of the 30 barrel production brewery and beer canning line are available Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm and 4pm. Located on the site of the original 1811 settlement of Astoria, the locals lining the bar can get you up to speed on the city’s past, present, and future.

I’ve been well acquainted with the beers of Fort George so it was high time to see the location, try the food, and beer at the source. They definitely have done well with their location, having nicely done up the first and second floors of the building. We went for the second floor, up the spiral staircase, where they bake up pizzas on their wood fired oven and the view out the window is spectacular, especially when the sun is setting just right. The stools for the tables were all fashioned out of old barrels, which I would like to believe they built themselves (I might be fooling myself with that one). The beer was great as expected and went great with their food- I was a particular fan of the clam chowder. I can see a stop at Fort George being a mainstay of future visits to Astoria.

One could go simply for the beers but that would be a waste. Try the sausage sampler if you are a carnivore, with a simple presentation it would be the perfect accompaniment to a raft of beer samplers. Judging by the quality and presentation of these locally produced sausages alone one single visit to the Fort George will not be enough.

This establishment is only a couple blocks away from the Maritime Museum and a perfect stop for lunch. They have two floors, the ground floor having a more extensive menu and the upper floor concentrating on pizzas, etc. The upper floor has a great view of the river and, really, how can you go wrong with pizza and beer. Ubiquitous in Portland, the beer selection was extensive. They also had a good selection of local wines as well. We ordered one of the wood-fired pizzas and a hoppy IPA for me…..heaven. When you couple the view with good food and beer, you’ve got a great lunch. If you’re in Astoria make sure you schedule lunch here. They’ve got big tables on the second floor so you can bring the whole family.

This place was great. Used to be a fort....Fort George. Now it is a wonderful brewery and the food is awesome. Wish I had this in my town. I'd be a regular. They have music there on certain nights.

Excellent beers made on premise; friendly staff and reasonably priced food. Restaurant has three levels for pub fare, pizza, and beer tasting with snacks. Nice outdoor patio which was slammed when I was there.
