Went to Fort George Brewery for lunch on a rainy Monday in early November. They have a great selection of beer and a fairly good selection of food.

We had the burritos and the portions were very generous. The food came quickly, was hot and very tasty.

The service was very good too. My sister wanted to buy a t-shirt and even though my sister had difficulty making a decision, the waitress was very helpful and patient.

I'm told it gets pretty busy on weekends and in the summer but it was not real busy when we were there. That's OK by us. If you want good food, good service and good atmosphere, go the the Fort Geroge Brewery in Astoria.

Tried several great beers. The food was also very good, especially liked the verde burrito. Fun old building. Make sure to look up at the huge beams holding the roof up.

Right around the corner from the remnants of Fort Astoria (Fort George), is this gem of a craft brewery. We worked up quite an appetite spending the morning at the Columbia River Maritime Museum and found the brewery a short walk away through historic downtown Astoria. It was a beautiful day so we went to the deck where dogs are welcome to lounge in the sun while we eat and drink. Food was excellent, including the Anaheim chile burger and some amazing jambalaya concoction that I don't think even the chef had a name for. The beer was excellent, and you're can try a taster or two if you're unsure about getting a whole pint. They might even offer tasting "flights" of their in-house brews, but we went right for the volume! Will definitely be back when we visit the very NW tip of Oregon again.

We had to try the sausage sampler plate (they make their own sausage) and it was fantastic. Also had a very good salad, cheesecake and beers. Very cool building, good food, good service and good beer. Kind of spendy -- a pint, a half pint, the sausage plate, two salads and a dessert cost $42. Still worth going to but the prices mean I won't be going on a routine basis.

We were in Astoria for a few hours over the weekend and visited Fort George on basis of recommendation from friends who lived in the area in the past. We tried a sampler of the current beer offerings and the sausage pizza, both of which were great. We then managed to find ourselves on one of their free tours (Sat and Sun at 1 and 4). Brewery was a lot of fun and a good place to stop and relax for awhile in Astoria.
