Bowpicker Fish and Chips in Astoria - a must before you die. You may die somewhat quicker eating the food here but who cares - it is worth it!

Inspired: this family business model and the crazy loyal people line in the pouring rain!

Food: absolutely amazing

Service: they treat everyone really well

Atmosphere: 100% perfect

Return: my doctor says "are you nuts" but my stomach says "you bet"!

“Best fish and chips - and from a family business”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

Tasty, great quality, and just fun getting their fish and chips. Look for the red boat across from the Maritime Museum. They only serve fish and chips. Everything is outside.

“Very good food!”
Reviewed November 14, 2013

A little different than the normal Fish and Chips but that isn't a bad thing! It was very tasty and fresh... Leaves you wanting more the next day. A word of advice: Check their Facebook schedule before you plan to go. In the Winter they are only one three days of the week and Sunday is not one of them. If you go in the summer months, be sure to plan for a long waiting time in line. Also, there is only one or two picnic tables so plan on taking the food somewhere else to eat.

“A must stop”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

After 5 years of telling myself to drop in, I finally ate at Bowpicker's in Astoria. Lines are usually a bit long but worth the wait. I ordered a three piece fish and chips. The batter used was one of the best I've had. They use Albacore, never had Albacore for fish and chips before but was very good! The service is great and fast! A cannot miss for those fish and chip fans!

“Different in an excellent way”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

Had heard about this place, so had to try it. Not your typical fish n chips but in a good way. Light and crispy with a unique coating that's hard to describe. Ten bucks for five pieces, plenty for two. Long line but worth the wait. Will definitely stop in next time we're in Astoria.
