But worth the climb! What an amazing view from the top - but don't attempt it if you are the least bit sensative to heights!!

The view from the Column is outstanding. On a clear day, the mouth of the Columbia river, the town of Astoria, the Astoria-Megler bridge, numerous islands and the whole coastal area. The spiral staircase to the top of the column may be a little intimidating, but it's the only way to the top.

It's great fun to climb the many stairs and enjoy the panoramic views in all directions! Not recommended for faint of heart or fear of heights persons.

We had so much fun. Sore legs but worth it!! In the gift shop there are balsa wood planes that you can launch from the top of the column.. sometimes the soar so far! Watching them is a blast and so is going down to get them. BUT after a few trips you will have sore legs... such a cool place to go there is a parking fee BUT I believe it is good for a year and it is so minimal.

Worth the walk up. It was windy and cold but still fun. Panoramic views are just spectacular. Definitely a kodak moment.
