we are residents, and always take visitors to the museum. Its also one of our favorite giftshops . their merchandise is all good quality. Grandkids visited from San Diego, and loved touring the museum, and then getting to spend some money in the giftshop. Its educational, and fun. A bit pricey for a large family though.

We just happened to pass by this museum on our drive through Astoria and decided to stop to give our 2 year old a chance to stretch his legs. We ended up staying three hours and could have stayed longer. Absolutely fascinating reading about Astoria's rich maritime history. Would definitely go again.

If you are curious about the old ages of fishing, river traffic and generally what it was like to live on one of the most gorgeous rivers ever this museum is fantastic. Hands on, interactive displays and a gift shop to boot that is lovely. A fabulous experience.

You just get sucked in. From one section to another. Just when you think it might be done there is more to see. Very informative , and many life size boats. Amazing how small some are , yet they brave ocean storms. Hands on sections too , and inspiring movie clips.

Nastiest coast on the lower 48 is well documented. Wish the gift shop had a DVD of the large wave videos playing on the big screens.
