“Tells the stories really well!”

While camping at Cape Disappointment State Park we made a museum day in Astoria Oregon due to the rain. So glad we did! The museum covered the story of the area from the First Peoples to the explorers/fur traders, fisher folk, canneries, loggers and the shipping industry. The story of the Coast Guard's role in saving lives was particularly moving. This is a great stop for everyone. Also plenty for kids to do & see. And...... Walking distance to the cool old town neighborhood too!

“excellent exhibits”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

Second time here. Last visited some 20 years ago. Decided to take my grand kids to see a little of the sea world. They really enjoyed the visit. The 3D movie is worth the 5 bucks. it was very informative and we really enjoyed the effects. The kids also enjoyed the tour of the liberty ship next to the museum. Admission is included with your museum tickets.

Our son had a great time looking at all of the boat models and experiencing being on a boat. It was lots of fun for our little stint in Astoria. The museum is beautiful and the exhibits are engaging for all ages.

Great displays. Very informative. The historical maps, pictures, and assorted documents are amazing. The film of the coast guard training and rescue is breath-taking.

Very nice museum - well done and fun. Worth the admission price.
Plan to spend a couple of hours here - there is quite a bit to see.
