“Very interesting and capturing!”

This museum was awesome! I know absolutely nothing about anything nautical but loved this museum! You learn alot about the city, the boats, the history surrounding everything and have many artifacts including parts of actual ships! Just make sure you allow yourself a couple hours to make it through it all. A must see in Astoria!

“Columbia River Maritime Museum”
Reviewed June 3, 2012

We were staying in Oceanside, OR for a week and drove up to Astoria to tour the museum. Well worth it!! Short film before touring the museum was very educational and I was very taken in about the history of traveling on the Columbia River as they make their way toward the Pacific Ocean. The people who work and have worked this river definitely have my admiration. One of the toughest jobs out there.

“A most wonderful place....:) & I am not a museum fan in general!”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

An ever changing history that often always a hands on lesson in local and traditional ways. A truly wonderful history representation of the history of the Columbia River and the Astoria area. Great for all ages and can eat up a lot of time if you choose.

I always take visitors to the museum.....:)

“Alot of history”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

Very fascinating. So much history. Everyone should go at least once. We always take out of town guests to visit the museum. There's alot of history of all the shipwrecks. Video of the river pilots and bar pilots, shows what their job is. Info on the canneries and fishing industry. Very educational! So glad that the schools take the kids to see it, too!
