This is by far one of the nicest Comfort Suites we have stayed at, I do not recommend booking through other travel sites though. This hotel is remodeling the 2nd floor, several guests arrived thinking they had a room only to be turned away, they had all booked using a travel site not connected to the hotel directly. Rooms are clean and very nice, breakfast is included. Centrally located close to the pier. A large grocery store is next door. Rooms have, small coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator.

Although the 2nd floor was in renovation we didn't hear any construction noises and didn't affect our stay at all. The seals, on the other hand are loud and never seem to stop, but closing the window helped with that. Room was very clean, staff very friendly including offering us water and granola bars as Choice Privilege members and allowing us to bring the hamster up to the room. (I was bringing my daughter home from college for the summer)

Hamster?! No worries at all! I am so happy to hear that renovations did not interrupt your stay.
We would love for you to come enjoy the newly renovated property in the future.

Thank you so much again.

When we arrived here they had our reservation mixed up and instead of a King, facing the river we got a room facing the parking lot with a giant whirlpool bath taking up half the room. Ridiculous. What makes it worse is that the room arrangement was so awkward that the vanity was in the room and the space for the shower and toilet was way too small. Very poorly designed room.
The hotel is being renovated so the entire second floor is closed off but the whole hotel smells badly of paint. The smell permeates every inch of the hotel and the rooms. You would think that if they are going to paint during operations they would use a low odor paint. God knows what those fumes are doing to young children and pregnant women.
After telling us that they had no other rooms to change us to, they did find another room but instead of a King, we ended up with two queens which had a lovely view of the street and the llwr floor's roof. They just could not get anything right it seems. While they did lower our rate, I found this to be the worst Experience of our trip.
I have no idea how long these renovations will last, but you might want to check before you book, especially if paint fumes cause you problems.

I would like to apologize. Due to renovations we have had out of order rooms, as they are in the process of updating them. When making reservations online, it is difficult to get a promised room type. Please feel free to book with us directly, or call after making an online reservation, as we will accommodate accordingly.

Thank you for your response and I am hoping you will consider us in the future.

The hubby and I came to Astoria with our dog. This hotel is pet-friendly, is very updated and has a nice decor, and the staff was very accommodating. The room was clean and had a great view of the river and sunset.

This hotel is very close to the docks where there are a hundred or so seals/sea lions hanging out 24/7. You can take a short walk down a paved walking trail to the dock to watch them from shore (as the dock is closed off to the public). I liked checking this out, and so did my dog. However, if the sound of barking seals all day and night might bother you, you may want to stay elsewhere. I personally didn't mind it, as it seemed more like white noise.

If we visit Astoria again, we definitely will stay here again.

Thank you so much for your review! We love to hear great things about our hotel, and as I like to remind our guests, those barking sea lions were here first! We now have ear plugs available at the front desk for those who need them!

We stayed 1 night, April 26 for the wine and seafood festival. The bus picked us up right in front of hotel. We didn't spend much time there but I will have to say they have the most comfortable beds that I have ever slept on in a long time. We will definitely stay here again.

This hotel was undergoing renovations... We asked for one of the newer rooms and were given room #326 (2 queens - renovation rate was $89). We also requested a quiet room but I am not sure that they exist. FYI - behind the hotel are docks & rocky reefs which are totally covered with barking sea lions (24/7). Ear plugs worked well to drown out the barking.
The room was clean, comfy and partially updated.... The beds and bedding were quality, smaller flat screen TV, a nice sitting area (although poor lighting), bathroom not renovated and very basic and the room needs more electrical outlets. Continental breakfast offered many choices and the area was kept very clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. Hotel location is great... A short walk will take you to the docks where you can watch the sea lions and eat/drink at the Rogue Brewery. Next door is a Safeway with a Starbucks and gas pumps.
We would stay here again.

Thank you so much for your review! We love to hear great things about our property, and we have new earplugs available at our front desk for those guests who were not ready to "experience" our sea lion neighbors. Almost anywhere you are in Astoria, you can hear them! We look forward to having you stay with us again soon!

This hotel is an easy to find, river front property sitting along a footpath into town. The lobby is small with friendly front desk staff ready to check in guests. There's a coffee station in the lobby stocked all day with surprisingly good coffee! (Fresh baked cookies are also available in the evenings, but I only saw them out when I was already full from dinner in town.)
The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The beds have both soft and firm pillows to choose from. The windows effectively muffle the sound of sea lions barking on the pier, but I actually found the sound relaxing. Were it not cold outside, I would sleep with the window open since the non-stop chatter of the sea lions make a nice white noise. If you bring leftovers home from any one of the excellent restaurants in Astoria, rooms have mini fridges and microwaves. Forgot a fork? Ask for one at the front desk and they'll help you out.
We stayed in a spa king suite and the tub was fabulous. For guests in rooms without the spa tub, there's a jacuzzi near the pool. Both jacuzzi and pool are nice and warm in well maintained facilities. There's also a sauna, but it takes a while to heat up.
Breakfast is served contintental-style in the dining room until 10am. Choose between various cereals, fresh waffles, whole fruit, biscuits and gravy, toast/english muffins, juice, more of the surprisingly good coffee, peeled hard boiled eggs, yogurt and cheese. It's quite a selection! Really, the only thing missing is bacon.
I enjoyed my stay at the Comfort Suites and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view-- it's worth the extra cost!
