“Good, but not great; better options in the area.”
Reviewed August 1, 2011

The good: The Courtyard Butler Boulevard is a very convenient location; a ten-minute drive from downtown, St. John's Town Center shopping, University of North Florida, and Mayo Clinic. The hotel parking lot is well-lit. The lobby has a full bar, breakfast made-to-order, salads/soup/sandwiches, a coffee barista, and a snack shop that's well stocked. The lobby are is beautifully decorated, and the pool area is very inviting. Internet is free.

The bad: Service is sub-par; the hotel clerk acted disinterested at check-in, actually texting during our transaction, and the guy behind the bar area wasn't unfriendly but didn't go out of his way to be courteous, either. The room decor is dated, the shower was tiled and growing mold in several places, and the fixtures in the bathroom and shower were very old, with a powdery coating from aging and/or hard water build-up. The carpets were disgustingly dirty; after showering, I put on white socks and by the time I retired for the night an hour later they were almost black on the bottom. Gross. The air-condition is controlled on the wall, however, the unit sits under the window and is very loud; likely designed to mask hallway noise - walls are very thin and elevator/ice maker/nearby room noise were barely muffled when the air was off.

A decent hotel for a decent price if you purchase your room on a discount site (I did), but I definitely wouldn't pay the rack-room rate or go out of my way to choose this particular hotel...there are just too many other (better) options in the area.

Room Tip: Book through Priceline. Avoid rooms near the elevator/ice machine, which are exceptionally loud.

We stayed here on our way home to Florida from North Carolona. The hotel has a very nice appearance--the lobby looks recently renovated. There is a cafe/bar to the left which serves Starbucks coffee, sandwiches and pastries. Breakfast is not complimentary. If you have time, you can have a big breakfast at the Cracker Barrel next door, otherwise Starbucks in the lobby is great. The room was clean and comfortable and it was $79. I have paid more in places that did not look as nice as this nice.

This hotel was fine. The redone lobby is very nice. The staff is outstanding. The location is great. However, if I had to go there again, I would use priceline.com because there seemed to be a lot of great options in this area. Nevertheless, I had a very pleasant stay and enjoyed the hotel.

I waffled on the rating for this hotel. While it's a clean, comfortable place to stay in a good location, it's a little worn in comparison to some others in the Marriott chain. Still, I consider it a good value for the price and proximity to the nearby schools, and would particularly recommend it for short-stay travel.

One of the reasons I prefer to stay at Marriott hotels is the consistently high standard of service I find at their properties. The Courtyard at Butler Blvd was no exception - the staff were courteous and cheerful. This was actually my third stay at this hotel, and I'll certainly be staying here again in the future.

My review of this Jacksonville Butler Blvd. Courtyard may be tainted by the fact that I stayed at one of the best Courtyards in the country a month ago (San Diego Liberty Station). The differences are night and day and this place was a Motel 6 compared to that one.

Received a good price on priceline ($40 a night) which earned me a room right next to the elevator. Lobby was recently remodeled and looked fantastic, unfortunately that is where the remodeling stopped. The rooms were bare bones but they did have a flat screen tv and the bed was fairly comfortable.

I didn't received housekeeping and instead found a bag of towels and shampoos hanging on my door the next day at 11am.... is it because I booked on priceline or is this standard practice? Luckily I didn't really care and it was fine with me that no one came in the room.

The A/C in the room was so loud that I could barely hear the tv or hear someone talk... the furniture is a bit outdated and the chair squeaked. Free high speed internet was appreciated as well as free parking.

Good location if you need to be near things in Jacksonville...would stay here again but overall was left very unimpressed. Please remodel the rooms!!!

This hotel was probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. I booked through priceline. My wife and I went to Jacksonville to shop and found that the Courtyard is very close to major shopping areas. ST. Johns Town Center, Walmart, the AVenues mall, and other shopping areas are all within a 8 minute drive. Very accessible. The staff was great and very helpful. The room included a king size bed, couch, flat screen tv, and rooms were very clean. The Cracker Barrell is located next door. This was a great experience. Will stay here again.

This CY is directly off the interstate in a hotel-devoted circular section that is home to at least a dozen hotel chains, so there is little to look at except other hotels. If you're a business traveler, this is your spot. You have a Cracker Barrel directly next store, also an Applebees and Waffle House you can walk to. This CY is modernized with the new bistro concept and jazzy check-in area. My 1st floor room (upgraded to suite) was clean and comfortable- however the shower never made it to hot, only lukewarm. Great value on weekends, I landed a $59 rate. If you're adventurous, try Clark's Fish Camp for dinner, about a 15 minute drive to this rustic spot on the St John's river (serving everything from shrimp/oysters/clams to kangaroo/rattlesnake/llama). Hotel staff was above average, friendly/helpful.
