“Average stay but good value”
Reviewed July 15, 2014

Rooms are just average. The desk in our room was obviously an after thought and was squeezed in. We arrived after ten pm and clerk was very helpful in helping us find somewhere to eat. Walls seem a little thin but other wise a quiet place to stay. Staff very friendly and helpful to whatever you need. Easy on and off the highway and worth staying at.

Room Tip: Ask for king on an upper floor, will be much quieter.

The room was clean, but the carpet and stool had large stains. Bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was beyond expectation. Hallways and elevators were a little warm, and the icemaker was out on my floor. Overall, very good. Guests across the hall were early risers, and inconsiderate with talking, laughing, but that is not the fault of the hotel. Rate through AARP was unbeatable. Dave and Busters walking distance, but we didn't realize it until we checked out.

Pleasant environment to be comfortable in to relax and have a vacation. We were visiting our son and wife and their new baby son who live in Orange Park. The pool was very relaxing and clean with towels provided.

The hotel was very well maintained from the outside and lobby. However the door to the pool was plywood. When we got to our room it was clean but the light blocking curtain was off the rail and no matter what we did it would not close. This caused us to wake up at sunrise. The first night was so noisy from doors slamming. Every door on the floor slammed when people came and went. Then in the room next to ours they decided at 10 PM to play LOUD music. After 2 hours I called the front desk (this would have been midnight) and they did take care of the problem. The AC and bathroom fan sounded like jets taking off so it was just not a quiet place. Then the TV local channels went out just as we were going to watch something on TV. They did finally come back on. One positive was the next day a maintenance man was in our room replacing drains in the tub and I asked him to fix the curtains. Which he did right away! It was a holiday weekend so the hotel was very busy. We never could get to the front desk to get extra towels any get any issues resolved.

Dear Ms. Rita,

I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to provide your opinion of your stay with us. I do regret that your stay was not as comfortable as it could have been and as our team would like for you to experience with us.

During the time you were a guest with us, you may recall the severe weather that we had over the holiday here in Jacksonville. Unfortunately this severe weather with it's wind caused our pool entrance door to slam open and shattered the glass. Although the glass is safety glass, for the safekeeping of our guests and in order to continue to provide access to our pool area our team installed a plywood insert in the door. Being in the pool area, I'm sure you may have read the sign that was posted on the door outlining that we regretted the appearance but for safety this insert had been placed in the door while a replacement door unit was on order (the wind damaged the door unit itself and while function, we chose to replace the entire unit). The storms in the area also impacted our Direct TV system and while we did encounter outages for short periods as weather passed, just as you would at home, our system functioned properly throughout your stay.

I sincerely regret that you did not opt to stop by our front desk and make our staff aware of the issue you encountered with the inconsiderate guest playing loud music or to pick up pool towels to make your stay more enjoyable. Our hotel has staff on site 24 hours a day to address any issues caused by another guest that impacts the stay of someone such as yourself. I'm sure you will agree that it isn't a matter of paper thin walls, as our building meets all inspection guidelines and is very well insulated, but simply a matter of a guest that turns up the volume to the point that it cannot be contained.

We hope that the remained of your visit to our city met your expectations. Our team values you as a guest and certainly wishes you had stopped by and brought these issues to our attention so that we could address them at that time. Our hands are truly tied in trying to provide for our guests' comfort when a guest does not notify us but instead chooses to re-visit this after departure when, I'm sure you will agree, we cannot correct it and provide for a pleasant stay which is our goal.

Wishing your happiness in your future travels.

At your service...

My only comments are about the shower in room 312. It shld be replaced with better /matching appliances & housekeeping woke me at 9am,only said sorry, didn't tell me why she was knocking for so long..my check out time wasn't until 12pm. I would definitely stay here again despite my first experience.Front desk was wonderful as well as the location & amenities.

The hotel was located a little further away than what was anticipated for our business meeting. Lobby staff were ALL outstanding and very professional. Breakfast and manager needs lots of work though! Hotel is close by to shopping and many restaurants, not walking distance though. Beds were comfortable, not a lot of water pressure for showers.

If you want a great place to stay in Jacksonville at a great price then then the Best Western Hotel JBT/Southpoint is the place to go!
The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. There was a convenient closet area to hang cloths and put your luggage which kept everything organized and out of the way so we weren't tripping over suitcases and made for easy pack-up when we left. The location was convenient and only 10 minutes to UNF, where we needed to be. This Best Western was much, much nicer than another hotel we stayed at earlier that month that was just down the street and at the same price.
The staff was nice, helpful and absolutely wonderful to deal with! The Front Desk staff was especially helpful, patient and knowledgeable, answering all our questions and helping us with whatever we requested. Our room staff was quiet, helpful when I requested additional towels, efficient and cleaned the room extremely well. Breakfast was included and had a wide variety of options, although they did make large quantities that didn't stay as warm as I would have liked.
We will be traveling to Jacksonville regularly to visit our daughter in college and will happily stay at the Best Western JBT/Southpoint again!

Room Tip: If you want a fridge and microwave in your room make sure you request it in advance! Get to Breakf...
