We have been coming here for almost 10 yrs and absolutely love it!!! The cabins are perfect for a family vacation. Some of the reviews on here complain about the rules, I'm glad that most are in place, because no one wants a bunch hooligans ruining their time here. Nice super friendly staff, will continue for many more yrs and vacations.

We read that this was rated (one of?) the best campground in America. It was unlike any campground we had ever seen before. Absolutely beautiful and clean. Level all-concrete site pads with full service. The roads were a little bit difficult to navigate. The reason for all of the niceness was all of the rules! I have never read a list of rules like this before! Overwhelming.

Unfortunately, the one day we stared here they had 500 motorcyclists come in for a fund raiser for veterans in the OIF and OEF wars. It was for a good reason, but the noise of the bikes and the hard rock band deprived us much needed sleep on this one day stay on a long trip.

Upsides were the restrooms, the store and their discounts, including 15% off for veterans.

Downside is the entrance road. While an easy on and off from the interstate, if you miss the turn into the campground, you are screwed. Newcomb Rd. leads to a dead end residential area and there is no where to turn around. They close and lock the gate to the campground each night.

This s a huge campground with a very large lake, swimming beaches, boating areas etc. You may want to avoid getting a site near the interstate due to the noise.

There is a Home Depot and Wal-Mart just on the other side of the Interstate. Handy!

I read several of the negative reviews and I can't speak to the dog policy, but our site (30) was level, clean, and easy access. Yes the roads are narrow, but I pull a TT 35' and had no issues making the corners. The office staff was nice and the place is clean everywhere we walked. We only stayed 1 night as we were heading to WDW, but would stop here again if in the area.

As a recent retiree and new owner of a travel trailer, I have experienced an uneasy and what I call misleading policy from a Jacksonville Camp ground. The camp ground, Flamingo Lake RV Park, is what I understand to be a fairly new campground. My wife and I camp at various locations each month. We travel with our 9 year old rescue , Boxer mix , dog. Very gentle and ALWAYS under our control. Every State Park, private RV park, and even Disney, that we have stayed at or dealt with, are very UP front and cooperative with pet policies. According to Flamingo Lake RV Park, Boxers are listed on their Dangerous dog list. The list, provided to them via attorneys, listed the boxers as dangerous. MY COMPLAINT, Flamingo Lake will not honor my request for the list that they operate under. They refused my request for the list. Be aware of this facility and it's, "Hidden pet hit list", when making reservations.

We spent two nights. We have 2 dogs and did not have any issues because of them. The lake view was beautiful. It is very close to the interstate, but noise was minimal,. Location was not very close to amenities, but had easy access from interstate,. Nice one mile walk around the lake. Park has a good amount of permanent residents.

Don't waste your time here unless you like being along an interstate under power lines. Very noisy. Only part of the park is paved and the sites aren't very level. There are a lot of people who live in this park and aren't very nice to outsiders. We got yelled at just about every time we went out on our golf cart. This is not a dog friendly park either. They have very strict rules as to what type of dog you can bring and the gestapo manager just makes the call at random. I would avoid this park at all costs. Definitely not worth the money.

I am going to review from two perspectives. It is not the best place for Big Rigs. Paved sites are very narrow and ours was overgrown with small palm trees. Then we had the really tall pine trees that kept dropping their cones when raining or windy. Roads are narrow so take it slow. Office staff is very good, grounds staff always in a hurry. There are around 60 year round residents, Many of their sites are very cluttered and not pleasant to look at`. The location is in the northwest area of Jacksonville and while there is decent shopping about four miles away the general area is at least thirty minutes away. I think this is a decent location for families spending a few days or longer during good weather. There is a huge lake for swimming and fishing. There are some snapping turtles who may nibble at your toes if you are out on a raft. There is a café right on the lake. The Wifi and cable tv was close to the best we have found.
