A nice quiet park in San Pablo. The park has a pier that you can fish off of or launch your kayak/ canoe from. Their is lots of picnic tables with barbeque grills scattered under shade trees, and a nature walk. A really cool place to bring a picnic or to grill out. Free admission to park.

Castaway Island Preserve is one of several hidden treasure troves of nature in the midst of commercial and residential bustle. Located near major routes, Castaway is a great place to stop off to enjoy your take-out lunch.

The park offers numerous picnic tables (with grills) and restroom facilities.

If you have more time, explore the trail through the uplands and the boardwalk toward the marshlands. Bring binoculars for birding. Castaway is on Cornell Ornithology's list of birding 'hotspots.'

If you're a kayaker or fisherman, you're in luck, too. A floating pier will allow kayak launch (but watch the tides.) Water access is tidal, but if you time it right, you may hook a fish in the shallows.

Castaway Island is a great place to stop in for a few minutes or to relax for a couple of hours. Enjoy!

Castaway Island Preserve is a hidden jewel amidst the hustle and bustle of suburban sprawl. A few minutes from Beach Boulevard, Castaway offers all you might expect to find miles from the city.

Picnic tables and grills are along the winding entrance drive. As you near the coastal area, you'll find directions to trails and an observation tower. There's a floating dock, suitable for launching kayaks, and tidal fishing.

There's also an educational building, largely unused, but it does house restroom facilities.

Castaway is a great place to pull in and enjoy a picnic lunch on a nice day. You can spend 10 minutes of a couple of hours.
