This park has very nice, secluded beaches and some trails for hiking and biking. I wouldn't go on a summer afternoon unless you're on the beach as there isn't much shade and it's pretty bug infested in the woodsy areas. Also, if you plan to leave the beach amenities area bring lots of water.

This is one of the nicest and cleanest beaches in North Florida, No cars on the beach...Great for children. Picnic tables, showers and restrooms a PLUS

Shaded sites, few campers during the week, a great beach. We were entertained by passing dolphins as well as naval maneuvers and sailing. Rent the bicycles from the check in office and tour the park on paved trails. Take a day away and drive north to Fernandina too. Be sure to use the ferry for much shorter travel time to jax beaches... It's only $5 per vehicle.

We arrived on a Saturday and left the following Wednesday. Campground was packed on Saturday, but cleared out Sunday afternoon, and until we left had only a handful of campers. Similarly, the beach across the street from the campground had a lot more folks there on Saturday and Sunday, but very little on Monday and Tuesday.
The campground itself is pretty nice; spacious layout with some private spots, and many well shaded spots too. The mosquitoes were a little pesky at times. Facilities were well maintained. Some great trails to explore, wish we had room to bring our Kayaks! My oldest son did some fishing on the beach and in the creek west of the campground. My kids all enjoyed the tidal pools at the beach during low tide. Water clarity was poor, but then we are more accustomed to the clear waters of the gulf beaches.

My husband and I went here one weekend and took some great photos with the giant trees that are dead on the beach. They look really neat. Very unique.
