I am a civil war history buff and have visited many civil war museums and toured many civil war sites around the country - my visit to this small museum has been the most enjoyable of all. My guide was very knowledgeable on all aspects of the war including the causes and it's aftermath.
Many museums and national civil war parks now present a rather stale scripted social rather than a historical perspective of the period; not so with this museum. I was presented with the "other side of the story" which is rather hard to find these days, but is essential if you are looking to understand real history. I would call ahead to make sure that a volunteer guide is available to lead a tour. This is a must see if you are interested in the history of this period.
