We were here on business; the service was gracious, attentive, and unobtrusive, the food excellent. In a party of 6 seated at a round table, we could hear ourselves talk. We had a vegetarian in our party. Since there wasn't a vegetarian course on the menu that evening, the chef made her one (gnocchi) which she said was outstanding. If I could go back, I'd go for the tasting menu.

My husband and I had a few hours to burn so we decided to try Matthew's. I had heard good things about it, so we wanted to judge for ourselves. We sat in the lounge for appetizers and drinks. We arrived on a Friday at around 7:30 p.m. The lounge was busy, we were able to sit at the last available table. I was suprised that there was not cocktail service. The bartender, I do not remember his name but he had an accent, was very accomdating, however extremely busy as he was trying to serve all of the patrons at the bar as well as all of the guests at the tables. It also seemed like he was running a service bar as well as I often seen another employee in a suit order drinks...possibly a server? The host seemed very rushed and frantic, we almost felt bad for ordering food. We ordered three appetizers, the potatoes came right away, the cheese plate after about 45 minutes and the meatballs took about an hour. The bartender continued to appoligize for the delay, but we were in no hurry so we didn't mind and enjoyed our drinks, the atmosphere and one another. It would have been nice to see the staff, bartender, host, possibly a manager, not so rushed. We may have stayed longer. Overall, the food and drinks were good.

The atmosphere is very intimate and comfortable. The servers were extremely professional, friendly, knowledgeable... made good suggestions and were very attentive. The food was delicious and the wines and drinks were wonderful. The molten chocolate cake dessert was homemade and absolutely fabulous! (All their desserts are made in house and to order.) The only issues we had was they kept running out of wines we chose and we kept having to choose different ones, but they were apologetic, and also the food took a LONG time to come out, so it was a very long evening. I would still highly recommend this restaurant!

We enjoyed a special anniversary dinner at Matthew's. We decide on the Chef's tasting menu with the Grand Flight, best choice we could have made. Each course was superb, and as noted they made substitutions to accomodate allergies & personal taste. The only course that didn't meet expectations was the risotto, the flavor was devine, but the consistency was a little gummy, not up to par. Otherwise, we were extremely happy with this meal, and they brought us chocolate dipped strawberries as an anniversary gift along with a card - nice touch. Our waitress was lovely and knowledgeable, but she did get side tracked toward the end of the meal when it was time to go, but the place had filled up pretty quickly and she was moving. We look forward to sitting at the chef's table on our next visit. You will spend a few $$$$ but it is worth it. However as an FYI - they offer an early menu before 6:30pm with 3 courses for $35, could be worth a try as well.

Dined there last night. We all ordered the short ribs and they were delicious. We were interested in a Super Tuscan bottle of wine and the sommelier gave a wonderful recommendation. It was an excellent bottle that complemented our dinner.
