Owner description: Our off-leash park is a unique 42-acre (25 acres are currently fenced) private country club providing fitness, recreational, relaxation, and socializing opportunities for both you and your dog. Dogs can run off-leash to their hearts' content in a safe, controlled environment. The off-leash park offers both dogs and their people a variety of recreational and fitness amenities, including dog-swimming ponds, jogging/walking trails, and play equipment such as tunnels. Perhaps even more importantly, the off-leash park gives dogs a chance to socialize with others of their own kind. Regular off-leash exercise and play with other dogs will result in a healthier, happier, more well-adjusted dog. Our off-leash park features the following amenities: •Lake Bow Wow, a 2-acre swimming lake for dogs (with a fountain!) •25 acres fenced with 6-foot chain link fence •Huge fields for frisbee and throwing balls •A 4-acre shady area for those hot days •A dog shower for muddy paws • Barkham Woods, a 10-acre natural wooded area with nature trails around and through it •Small dog area for dogs under 25 pounds with both sunny and shady sections, and Lake Fifi, a small dog swimming pond! •Night dog: three lighted acres for use after dark (until 10 p.m.) •Special Events: a one or three-acre separate area that can be rented for parties, festivals, or any kind of special event •Kids 'N Dogs: a separate area with playground equipment for kids of all ages and kid-friendly dogs •Benches and swings for relaxing •Tunnels, tires, jumps and other fun exercise obstacles for the dogs •Park-provided tennis balls •Use of a full agility course (for safety reasons, use of the agility equipment is restricted to those who are taking or have taken an agility course)

I only tried Dogwood because I had a Groupon. I live at the beach and own property on the west side so I never saw a reason to pay to go to a dog park...until DOGWOOD! It is simply one of the best finds I have made in Jacksonville in a long time. It's impeccably clean and plenty of trees to provide shade from the hot Florida sun. My pooch Baylee is a lab and she has never been in better shape since we found Dogwood. She lives in their lake. I love going and talking to other dog owner - it's social and fun for both owner and pet!

This is a great place for dogs. It gives them endless space to play and just be a dog. They get to meet new friends and tire themselves out. There are even classes they can take and when they are done playing or swimming in the pond, you can wash them before they go home! Rates are great and they have memberships as well. The biggest dog park I've ever seen! Your dog will love you for the visit.

Our Schnauzer loves his visits to Dog Wood Park. Yes, it's a little expensive but it's locally owned and the owner keeps the park in excellent condition. There are indoor bathrooms (for the humans), an outdoor washing station for the dogs to get the dirty paws clean before getting back into the car, several indoor self serve bathing stations, and they even have special events and offer training courses. We are not members because we live about 30min away but bring fur child at least once a month. He enjoys being able to run off leash, splash around in the lake with big dogs, and go on adventures in the shaded woods!! The park is divided up in large sections which makes it easier to keep track of your furry friend and is helpful for those dogs that might not want as much social interaction. We always start out in the small dog area which also has benches, chairs, a small "lake", and plenty of shade. Then we move to the larger fenced area that Lake Bow Wow is located. So much space to run around and plenty of trees for shade. Once you hit the lake there is less trees but you can usually still find a spot. We (2 adults + 2 kids, 15 & 11) love watching all the dogs swim, play, and enjoy themselves in the lake! Once our dog has had enough he'll guide us to Barkham Woods for some adventure time! Lots of shade in this area but that also means lots of bugs so make sure you apply your bug spray, especially in the summer!!! There is so much to do here and it's well taken care of. If you have younger children there is an area for kids that has some play equipment (this area does NOT have shade so go early or visit during the cooler months). "Poop" stations are located throughout the park so be sure to pick up after your dog. There is nothing worse than stepping on poop on a hot summer day! $11 per visit or you can purchase an annual membership for $289 or month to month membership at $35 and have 24 hour access to the park. There are other "free" dog parks but they are no where near as nice as this one.

Great place to take your dog for the day. Bring plenty of water to drink during the summer as there is very little shade and if you are not a park member be prepared to pay. The park is large and divided into sections. It is family friendly and a fun time.

I stopped here on my way back up to NY from florida on business. My only regret is now that I have experienced Dog Wood Park, I don't have anything like it here in NY. There were several options as to where you could go including Barkingham Woods and the lake area. They had an agility course, dock diving and basically anything you could want to do with your dog all in one place. Being a professional dog trainer who travels everywhere with her dogs, this is a place not to be missed.
