Spent a wonderful afternoon here with a couple of friends. We were thrilled by the paintings done by William-Adolphe Bouguereau, one of our favorite artists. The rest of their collection is also lovely. We also enjoyed lunch at their cafe. The gardens outside were gorgeous and the Cummer Oak is a must see. It's a live oak that has grown into the grown in some spots and still resurfaced. They even have a nice gift shop. I can't imagine any fans of museums not enjoying this spot!

An upscale art museum with quality pieces in a beautiful riverfront setting near downtown - but on the day of my visit the gardens were closed and so were many of the galleries. Next time in JAX I will give them another look.

This is a very nice yet small museum. Compared to big and famous museums in major cities it might be a disappointment – but it has a very unique charm, and that is the garden.
The garden is overlooking St. John's River. It has a nice fountain, amazing view, benches, flowers and an amazing tree – you need to see it to understand.
Parents and children are invited to take painting kits at the entrance and paint the view in the garden. Very nice.
I appreciated the wheelchair they have for visitors.
Also the lady at the gift shop went above and beyond to find us the information we needed (the weight of a gift) – very impressive.
If you are in Jacksonville – I recommend you visit this place – you will enjoy it!

So glad We went here! Free admission first saturday of the month! Gardens are breathtaking! Spent more time there then in the museum but the art was fabulous and my husband loved the car exhibit. Will definitely come here again!

If you want a fun, diverse experience, check out this museum, its gardens and the Saturday only open air market just down the street under the bridge. The museum has a number of interesting collections from the classic cars which are truly beautiful examples of automotive design to the Gilbert Stuart painting of Washington to a Warhol and a Norman Rockwell among others. We were pleasantly surprised by the caliber of the work within. The gardens are lovely but they close 15 minutes before the actual museum closing time. Build that fact into the plans for your visit because the guard will emphatically escort you out. It was a surprising end to our visit.
