Beautiful grounds and gardens on the banks of the St John River. We visited while attending a wedding reception on site.

My son (8) Chris and I visited with the wife in Summer of 2012. A great place with much to see and learn for kids and grown-ups of all ages. The staff was nice, cordial, and very knowledgeable too.

We went here for almost 4 hours. It is easy to locate, and has a beautiful setting on the river. I can only take so much art at a time, and this was the perfect size. As a non art expert, I especially enjoyed the explanatory plaques next to most items, they brought the history and meaning of each piece alive. After the museum we saw the garden, which was beautiful. Listen to the garden tour via your smart phone, it is good.

We stopped here on our way home from visiting Amelia Island in December. The Museum is small - in size and also in the amount of objects to view. However, the rooms are nicely designed and the various artifacs and artwork are well displayed. The gardens are especially beautiful (very colorful and in bloom), and the location along the river is lovely. We also enjoyed a delicious lunch in the cafe. Homemade soup and a sandwich hit the spot perfectly. It was the best attraction to do in the Jacksonville area for a few hours.

This is a nice little museum on the river. Gardens are well laid out and well kept, though not extensive. Work is ongoing. Collections cover a wide range with few items in each; some excellent pieces!
Very involved in community, especially with children. We heard a recital of a young man (10?) playing violin, and a young girl (same age) sing "Over the rainbow.". I joined a drum circle for a few minutes of pounding on a conga drum! Prices in the cafe are high. This is certainly worth at least one visit!
