My wife and I love Indian food. However, we have been disappointed in many of Jacksonville's Indian restaurants. India House on Baymeadows Road, just west of I-95, stands out as the highest quality Indian restaurant in town. We first went there three weeks ago and quickly fell in love with the place! We really enjoy their shrimp tandoori masala, and their vegetable samosas. Unlike some of their competitors down the street, India House uses big, tender shrimp - no tiny, tough prawns. Also, their sauces are so delicious and flavorful. Not only do we think their food is the best Indian in Jax, we feel it compares favorably to many Indian restaurants we have tried in larger cities around the US and overseas. The presentation of their meals is also beautiful. If you love Indian food, you must try India House when you are in Jacksonville! Our compliments go to the chef. Keep up the good work!

Forget what the two reviews below say, and unless you are in the mood for bad breath the rest of the day, potentially a bloated, gassy stomach, and not in need of food for the rest of your day, don't go 'ANYWHERE' for an Indian buffet.

Indian food (western at least) is supposed to be cooked to order, in proper sequence, with poppadoms and/or starters, maybe a beer or two, followed by a nice entree/curry/biryani.

Right, now that is out of the way. I have been to all the Indians in Jacksonville (that I know of), and this is by far the best. The service is casual and the dining area is MASSIVE, so if you want intimacy don't bother. What this place does is provide you with a great amount of food for a great price. The curries are great, the poppadoms keep flowing if you ask for them, the chutneys are good, the naan bread is good, and they have the standard wine and Indian beer selection.

India and India House (not related) are by far the two best Indians in the Jacksonville/St Aug area, and I find this to be the best.

I am no chef, nor paid food critic, but I know more about eating western Indian food than 99% of people in America.

Chicken Kadahi and the Vindaloo are both great and I shall try a different one next time.

I have wanted to try this place since it opened because it is the nearest Indian restaurant to my office. I finally got the chance earlier this week while I was waiting for a prescription at a nearby pharmacy. I must say I was quite disappointed. I had the lunch buffet, which was a fairly standard assortment of chicken, goat, and vegetarian dishes. some of the dishes had been sitting there a while and had gotten cold. The tandoori chicken was dry and tough. Worst of all, the entire floor around the buffet was sticky. Also the service was slow. the best feature of the restaurant was the fresh-baked nan delivered to the table, but by the time I received my nan I had already nearly finished my meal. I think in the future, I will drive a little further to go to a good Indian restaurant.
