The variety of animals and the way the zoo is laid out is kid friendly and enjoyable. The kids can feed the some of the animals and the train rides were a big hit.

We headed to the zoo thinking we would be there a couple of hours. 6 hours later, we had to leave because they were closing.
They have animals from many countries, but along with the big name mammals, they have fish, reptiles, birds and plants from the regions as well, we roamed around, amazed at the variety. I took 900 photos!
The kids loved it just as much, and with teens-it's hard to know what they will be into from day to day. They were perfectly happy to spend the whole day.

It is a must several times a year. Our Grandchildren love it. Start with the train to get prospective and then start walking . The variety of amimals is great and the overall appearance of the Zoo is terrific. It takes several hours to do the place justice. Don't miss the merry-go-round One of the beat zoos in the ciountry

The animals were all very depressed looking, the walkways were tiny and overcrowded, and it just wasn't what I thought it would be. If you have ever been to the Houston or san fransisco zoo, you will definitely be disappointed. Don't pay the "value" ticket price because they don't even check your tickets to get on the train so essentially its free anyway. Super bummed that my husband and I wasted our money

My husband and I hadn't been to the Jacksonville Zoo since our children were young. We really needed a relaxing day and that's what we had! The gardens were lovely and we enjoyed all the animals. The staff were all polite and helpful. We can't wait to go back!
