Awe-inspiring life of Anna Kingsley. She was an amazing woman. It was so good to walk around the well-preserved grounds and imagine what the fields must have looked like when the plantation was in action exporting sea-island cotton and indigocfrom its own docks to Europe.

A eye opener when you see the real conditions slaves lived in and the backbraking work they did. A great place to visit and see the contrast between the free rich and the poor enslaved. It is a must see if you are in the area.

My family really enjoyed Kingsley Plantation. It was very educational for all of us. We enjoyed the drive there but it is somewhat remote. My kids found a baby gopher tortoise they almost stepped on. They were so excited about it and have talked about it for days. Although the main house is only open on the weekend with reservations for touring while it's being renovated, I thought there was still plenty to see and learn about. We enjoyed stopping at Chowder Ted's on the way back into Jacksonville for a late lunch. It made for a fun and very educational afternoon for our family.

It only took us about an hour to look at everything. It's too bad the main house isn't open to see. That being said, the plantation was still interesting to view and the road to get there was pretty cool.
