Super 8 Jacksonville Orange Park
Ranked #92 of 134 Hotels in Jacksonville
Reviewed November 10, 2008

I have stayed at this hotel over 12 times within the last 2 months, and had returned to this site for business again for one night. I redeemed a Wyndam rewards room for free with my points. When I got to the room, I could not get on the Super 8 access point (internet), however I could log on to Dennys and was ok with that. I'm not too picky other than a bed and internet(required by my employer). I went to a business meeting and came back and could not get on dennys access point and since Super 8 was not working at all, I requested to be moved to a room that had accessibility since I had 3 hrs of paperwork to do online. The front desk worker (Manny) said that I had been in the room over 15 mins and that I could not move. He suggested that I come to the lobby to use the internet. I replied saying that I paid for a room that had internet, and I need a room that has internet. I'm not going to sit in the lobby for 3 hours to do my paperwork. The hotel had barely 20 cars, so I'm sure they had availablity. He said he would call me back and told me the same thing, that because I had been there over 15 mins, he could not move me. I told him that I have never had anyone not move me because of their inability to provide services. I even called Super 8 corportate, and they filed a claim to get my points returned to me. I ended up staying at the LaQuinta next door and will never return to Super 8. The front desk worker (Manny) was very rude, suggesting that because I had paid with rewards point that it was not a big deal for him to take care of me. All of which, because of Wyndam rewards, thats why I stayed at this hotel 12 times. WOW... they made $45 a night x 12, and burned all my future stays on this. They are rejects and have no idea what customer service. They do not understand Americanism, and are Indian Owned.

Spend the extra $15 and stay next door to a more inviting place. I stay in hotels 20/30 days out of the month, and have NEVER had trouble moving to another room. Every hotel wants to be sure that I am 100% satisfied and always return. Not this one... They could care less about you, your experience... nada... I took all my business here in Orange Park, and they blew it all by not taking care of me. Icing on the cake: I had not even sat on the bed.. only set up my computer. I could have messed up the room before I left, but I didnt.. I'm the better one in this situation.

My suggestion: Spend your money somewhere that cares about you and wants you to be satisfied. These guys do not care about you one bit. You can listen to me, or take your chances. The only reason I even wrote this, is so you would not have to.

Best Regards,

We stayed here one night before going to a different hotel in Macclenny. This hotel is older and pretty run down. It is NOT american owned. The room is VERY small. There was think dark mold/mildew in the air conditioner. Walking on the rug made our feet dirty. The mini fridge was lame it BARELY got cool.
There were rowdy people in the pool drinking alcohol IN the pool,
glass containers in the bottom of the pool!!!, people getting loud and stewed, VERY scary! The management walked right by the pool and saw them and did NOTHING! The people that were hanging out there were walking around with liquor in bags drinking in and around the parking lot until all hours. People were in the pool (drinking alcohol) until 2:30 AM! We were scared to death to sleep there and seriously considered forfeiting the money. On the upside the bathroom had been remodeled in marble and the tub was very clean. The location has a lot of stores that are new and nice, and great restaurants. Also the staff were very friendly, just clueless about keeping up a hotel. Unless you are very THICK skinned keep driving. The Econo Lodge in Macclenny is clean and excellent!

I spent one night at this hotel on Tuesday May 15, 2007. I checked in around 9 or 10pm, tired from a long driving trip from north Alabama. The lady at the front desk was pleasant, though the tattoos threw me at first. Check in was very fast, and she was able to give me a room on the second floor, as I felt it would be safer for a woman traveling alone.

When I finally got to my room I found a decor that badly needed an upgrade. One of the lamps had a broken light bulb. I wanted to set the alarm so that I could get up early the next morning, and when I picked up the alarm clock a liquid substance started dripping from it (grossed me out). The television guide had someones chewing gum stuck to it. The hotel should probably also invest in some new bathroom towels and hand cloths. And that's about all the negative things I can say about the room. Oh and it had that cheap hotel room smell to it.

When I pulled back the bedspread, I was happy to find clean sheets. (Yes I check... cause you never know what kind of corners people in the hotel business like to cut). I was also surprised at how clean the bathroom was. Grey marble sink counters and the shower/bathtub was also marble. I was very happy about this because I cannot stand a nasty bathroom.

In conclusion I would like to say that I wouldn't be opposed to staying here again, if I had too. It was alright. Not a five star. But enought stars to get you through the night. Plus it was only 62$ including tax.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this motel in December of last year, and we were disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. The first room we checked into was unacceptable-the carpet had crumbs on it, the bottom of the bathtub was chipped and peeling, and upon pulling the sheets back for inspection, I found makeup stains on the pillow and fingernail clippings in the sheets. We went down to the office to request another room, and the women at the front desk were very apologetic and helpful-unfortunately, the second room we were placed in wasn't too much better-the sheets, though clean, had holes in them, and the room had a musty smell. There was no clock radio and the furnishings were raggedy looking. If this motel was totaly remodeled and the rooms updated, it would be a very nice place, as it has good front desk staff going for it-otherwise, we will not be returning. :(

The reservation process and check-in went fine. The front desk staff was about average in friendliness and efficiency. The area is mostly restaurants and retail stores.

The small room was decorated with painted walls and basic framed art. Furnishings included a small table, two chairs, a TV in a cabinet with three dresser drawers underneath, a single night table and, of course, a bed. The HVAC unit was quiet enough and worked fine. The sink/vanity area was separate from the toilet and tub and included a small closet area. The vanity area lacked a towel rack - it was over the toilet.

The TV set worked okay, but had a noisy picture. There was no alarm clock or radio.

The big problem with this motel is the lack of a clean feeling related to the fabrics and housekeeping. The room had a light mildew smell. The musty drapery was hanging loose from the broken drapery rod. We had to stand on chairs and rehang the drapes to get them to close. The carpet was soiled somewhat. The bedspread and blanket were clean, but very old looking. The towels and washcloths were very worn and rough. Drying off on a bathtowel felt like you were drying with a scrubbing pad. The tiles around the bathtub had some mildew in the grout lines.

Don't expect a traditional continental breakfast, it only consists of juice, coffee and fat-laden Danish. We had to eat elsewhere.

I wouldn't stay at this motel again. It is a shame because the owners could spend a little money on replacing the worn drapery, bed furnising and towels and keep everything clean and this motel would be much better.
