“Very Comfortable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2014 via mobile

Was in town for a quick business meeting. Stayed because of consistently good accommodations from Hyatt. Selected a standard King-size room without a city view, though we had a room with a partial river view. The room size was nice, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious, though the shower water pressure was poor. The air conditioning worked well and provided good white noise. The staff was very kind and helpful. In room coffee is by Starbucks and the breakfast buffet was very nice. The riverfront location was great to walk or run along the river and was very close to the water taxi. We did not have a car, so the water taxi was great to get across the river. We didn't get to use the gym and pool, but they did look very nice. We would definitely stay here again.

I booked a room and stayed at the Hyatt on May 3-4., 2014. I booked tge room that overlooked the riverfront and it was beautiful (15th floor). The room was nice, the staff was AMAZING and the breakfast was really good (must get the eggs to order). The staff was really happy and pleasant. Hyatt must really take care of them, if not they should since the staff is why I will be returning.
Thanks Hyatt for the wonderful experience I shared there with my daughters .

Room Tip: Get a room with a view,,,you won't be sorry!!! We watched the dolphins swim from our room

Quick & friendly check in.
The room is big & clean. Very comfortable bed & restroom was also nice.
The in-room dining was a bit pricey.
Overall it's a nice place, but not a destination.
I would stay again.
There is a $15 charge for self park & $20 for valet.
The valet/front door attendants were very friendly.

Every word of this review is dispassionately accurate. My employer is a federal agency that places conferences out for bid and generally chooses the lowest bidder. We were given a conference room rate of $83 per night. It appears that this property relies upon low budget conferences to maintain positive cash flow. The property is old, and in need of major renovation. My room had newer carpeting and a recent coat of paint in the bathroom, but the shower surround and toilet base were heavily calked to hide the worn, chipped grout and the bath had a musty and unpleasant smell. The granite countertop in the bath was worn and water damaged. The shower could not be properly adjusted to maintain a constant temperature, and both my wife and I were scalded by hot water. While there, I witnessed an armed police officer asking a guest in an adjacent room whether "he would behave". The premium river view rooms my fellow conference attendees occupied were of no better quality.

When we visited the pool, we noticed that the flood light in the pool had been removed and placed on the deck, with the underlying electrical wire trailing from the water to the light itself.

This hotel is located near the Jacksonville River Walk complex of restaurants ands bars, but this area too is in need of major renovation, with mold stained awnings, chipped concrete, and rust stained bridges the predominant theme.

Within one day, I checked out and moved my family to the Omni less than half a mile away.

Room Tip: If you visit this area, stay at the Omni. This too, is an older property, but is properly maintained...

Dear RobertB,
I’m sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Your rate of $83 is not a typical rate at our hotel, it is actually the per diem in Jacksonville. We appreciate your feedback. If you would like to discuss your stay in more detail, please contact me directly.

My husband and I spent four nights recently at this Hyatt. Once a very nice hotel, but it looks tired. Some needed updates would bring it back up to par. The room is adequate, the bed was comfortable, but the bathroom tile was needing an update and the showerhead needed to be moved up at least six inches to accommodate the average height person. I am 5' 6" and needed to duck to get my hair washed. There was also a bit of black mold on the shower curtain which is never pleasant. Speaking of water, the water softener was on overkill and it was one of those showers that made you feel like you couldn't get the soap off. Also, the hot and cold on the faucet had a problem switching from one to the other, so warm water teeth brushing was what we got. We did eat there and had a corporate dinner of steak and it was delicious. Breakfast buffet was the same each day, but that may have been chosen for our corporate event.
I will end with the positives. The hotel is in a great location next to the Landing and an easy cab ride to most things downtown. The elevators run quickly and staff is friendly.
If we needed a hotel in downtown Jacksonville, I might check other options.

Green Features: Did not notice any postings for environmentally-friendly options such as towel or water savings.

Nice hotel and great morning buffet in the restaurant. The rooms were nice. We don't know why, but we were put in a wheelchair accessible room which we didn't need. Guess the hotel was that crowded. Had to ask for water glasses every day except the last one as they only gave us one glass every day. Also had to ask for towels as we were never given the same each day. Had a problem with teenagers one night as they held their prom at the hotel. Loud crowd of underage drinkers. Had to call security twice to get the kids to quiet down. I don't know how or why kids get hotel rooms. Also opened our door once to see a young lady walking down our hall with a bottle of beer in her hand. Had to also ask a group of kids who were outside our room to quiet down. Security was great though, but wish they wouldn't allow underage kids to have rooms in the hotels. They honestly don't think of others in the hotel!! The hotel management did send up a nice bottle of wine, some fruit, cheese and crackers to our room the next morning, but our room had not been cleaned that morning and so we came back to a lovely gift in a dirty room at 2:00 p.m.. Not so great, but it was a nice gesture and we tried to thank them at the front desk, but the gal at the desk just looked at me with a blank look. Too many groups at the hotel at the same time. Other than a few blips on the radar it was a nice hotel in a nice location on the St. Johns River. Our group had a wonderful time.

Room Tip: We were on the 9th floor, but any of the upper floors would work. Ask for a room with a river view...

The hotel was very clean and check in and out went very smooth and we where asked if we wanted and river view at check in and was an amazing view. The room service breakfast was very much on time and delicious. The hotel was worth the price and parking was not bad either and overall very close to the event.
