I was visiting my mom in Danville, CA (as I am from Durango, CO) and also was able to meet with my brother and his family at the BASIL LEAF. They were very accommodating with our family of 5 and we got a lovely table on the patio. The waiter was a familiar face to my sister-in-law and we did have great service... he even took several photos of us... thank you. The meal was delicious, and such good portions - there were left-overs. They do have buffet hours and then menu hours, you may want to check the times depending on the day.

A cute little restaurant in downtown Danville. Looks like the place used to be an older home with a porch out front. Cute place, but just a so-so brunch. Their menu says "selection of breakfast breads", but all that was available was pre-frozen mini banana muffins, mini apple turnovers and some type of chocolate sheet cake. There weren't even any bagels. The made-to-order omelet bar and fresh waffle station were nice though. The hot pasta entrees were not very appetizing so we skipped those. For $20 per person it's just a simple brunch, nothing outstanding. The regular menu looked better and I think I'd like to try this place for lunch sometime.

Although they said they did not take reservations for outside seating on Saturday evenings, they made an exception. There were six of us. We brought our own wine, and Benjamin, our waiter did a good job of opening and letting them breathe. We decided to eat family style and ordered a number of appetizers. When our entrees came, we had to ask the staff to remove our appetizer plates. They seemed to be short-handed as we were always looking for someone to pour water or bring bread, or cutlery. However, based on other reviews, regretfully this seems to be the norm.
The food was delicious and practically everything, including dessert, disappeared quickly!

A group of 4 gals went for lunch, and it was marvelous! Their lunch menu has many choices of starters, pastas, salads, pizzas, sandwiches ... and also a half sandwich and half salad choice. We each had a different half sandwich and a different half salad. Mine was Chicken Caprese with Organic greens and berries, walnuts, and a berry vinaigrette. WONDERFUL! The ciabata bread was soft and perfect.
Our water boy was very attentive, and our waitress was as well.
We will be back!!!

The food was ok. The service was bad. We had a very simple order that took over 45 minutes to arrive. Not much in the way of apology. Waiter offered to bring us more olive oil for our bread, disappeared with our mostly full bowl of oil, never to return. We did see him literally chasing a customer down the street, stick his face inside a care, and come out with money. Was that customer as tired of waiting as we were? And, this is not really the restaurant's fault, but a couple were there with their young daughter whom they allowed to run wild in the restaurant. When she started banging on the metal grating with a glass salt shaker, I finally politely asked her to stop, and was yelled at by her father! We would never go back to this place!
