This is one of those aging places. The Coppola's in Red Hook and main street Poughkeepsie have already closed, and I can see why. The food is just not good. Minestrone soup with no flavor. A salad with Italian dressing that may as well have been water. Hard bread. Over-cooked chicken parm. Apple crisp dessert that was terrible. Two positives - our waitress was great (but the kitchen was very slow - for which she apologized, but that's not her fault), and the sauce on the pasta and chicken is very good. The rest of the meal needs to be as good.

I had the chicken Tuscan and my husband had the salmon. Both were excellent. Service was very good. A nice, very authentic looking Italian food menu.

I had dinner last night with some colleagues and a new client and I'm happy to report this restaurant is still good after all these years. The Coppola family owns and operates four restaurants in this area and they are all distinctive in their own way and very good. We all took turns sampling each others dishes. These included: Eggplant roulatini- stuffed with ricotta and redolant with fresh basil and garlic, Chicken Marsala with sauteed mushrooms- the sauce is light and not too salty, Stuffed Sole- I don't eat fish but I was told it was quite good, Penne with fresh tomatoe sauce- the sauce is their mainstay, fresh and light, and the pasta was cooked perfectly.
During the week they have a great luncheon special: smaller portions or 4-5 of their classic dishes served with salad or soup and a small dessert, served in a timely manner and at a great price. Definately beats "fast food".
Don't miss this restaurant- good for family as well.

Walked into the 1970s. Aquarium greeted us. No other patrons in the dining room. Filthy water glasses. The waitress did not even offer to exchange the glasses. Dried lettuce on the menus(I hope it was lettuce - it was green and stuck to the menu). We left so I can't give it a One Star - we didn't try the food.

Probably the best thing about Coppola's in Hyde Park, besides the food of course, is how relaxed dining there can be. The wait staff seem to entirely understand that dinner is not - or should not be - just about eating. There is never any feeling that the server is trying to rush you through the meal to seat another party. The food is excellent and reasonably priced for the quality. The appetizers are mostly under $10.00, usually in the $8.00 range, and the entrees range from $10 - $20.00 and include a salad or soup or pasta on the side. Their signature dish is the Chicken Scaloppini Marsala which is absolutely unforgettable. Fantastic. Fine selection of beer and wine and espresso served the way it should be. Handicapped accessible and easy access parking. A very pleasant experience for either lunch or dinner.
