Reviewed July 19, 2014

We stayed here for four nights in July. The owners were extremely accommodating and the B&B is in the center of the Hudson Valley sights from Kykuit in the south to Olana in the north. The B&B is across the street from a Vanderbilt mansion and very close to the Franklin/Eleanor Roosevelt sights. The Culinary Institute of America is nearby and has more than one restaurant for the public. The city of Rhinebeck is about ten miles from the B&B and has many shops and restaurants. The public areas of the B&B are spacious including the dining room and lounge. Our room was a nice size with a 1950's era bathroom that was nice. Everything was very clean and the food was good.

Three nights here felt like a real vacation. Valerie enjoys her business and her travelers. In turn, it is so easy to be at ease here and enjoy the comfort and welcome provided. And can she cook! Oh my.Victor and Eric were a great part of the experience. Could have stayed and chatted and missed all the fun of the area. Thank you for a lovely time. The English Cottage Suite was very a most accomodating room and the sitting area allowed us to spend extra time with our friends.

We were sad to see you go. It is so wonderful when guests have as much fun as you and your friends did. It makes me so happy. We really loved chatting with you and comparing our mutual experiences and other enjoyments. Glad one of you got the English Country Suite - it does have a nice area for gathering with friends. Thank you for writing such a nice review - we really appreciate it!!

My wife and I were travelling New England on our honeymoon and found this lovely B&B on our way.

Valerie and Eric were both very friendly, so was Valerie's dad, who helped out with the breakfast.

There are plenty of communal areas to sit; tea coffee, cold drinks and snacks were provided at all times.

We stayed in the Kyoto room which was ample for our needs. The bathroom even has two sinks so we didn't get in each other's way.

Upon arrival we were greeted pleasantly by Valerie; she told us all about the area, and on her advice we ate at Market Street Italian restaurant which was perfect.

The breakfast we were served was much different from anything we've had before, but was very nice and more than enough.

After breakfast Eric and Valerie both talked with us about the remainder of our trip and even assisted with further accommodation plans.

Overall it was a great stay and we were highly satisfied with the house, location and most of all the remarkable service. It is clear that they both put a lot of effort into making this a really good B&B.

We were so tickled that you chose us as part of your honeymoon experience in the US. We loved helping you guys with ideas on where to go during your travels - and we do hope you found great places to stay along the way. My memory is that we served baked oatmeal the morning you were here - and the amazing Taylor Ham (a New Jersey tradition that we are excited to share with our guests) - we agree that the ham is "much different" ;-). Thank you for taking the time while on honeymoon to give us such a lovely review!

Our third visit to NYC took us to Hyde Park we decided to stay at a b&b on following this site we booked at the journey inn and this May have been our first b&b experience but not our last. The room was very clean and comfy all the amenities were very accommodating. Location was great and Valerie was a wealth of knowledge. We can definitely recommend the Market St resturant in Rhinebeck one of Valerie's favs. The culinary institute of America just up the road was a real find and very delicious.definately worth a visit and stay

So glad you decided to take a road trip from NYC to the Hudson Valley and stay at your first B&B! We are so close to the city and it allows NYC visitors to see how amazing rural NY can be. Thank you for letting folks know what a great culinary mecca we are too. We really appreciate your taking the time to share and we look forward to having you both back - maybe a 4th visit!

We loved our stay at the Journey Inn. Valerie made us feel very welcome in her lovely home. Her cooking is imaginative, tasty and very satisfying. Valerie also has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the local restaurants so, if you don’t have a reservation for the Culinary Institute, you can rely on Valerie to recommend a restaurant to suit your requirements. The genuine friendliness of Valerie and her dad creates a relaxed atmosphere and it transfers to her guests so that great conversations are engaged in, both in the lounge and over the breakfast table. The property also enjoys a lovely location, just across the road from the entrance to the Vanderbilt Estate. Thank you Tripadvisor contributors for recommending the Journey Inn.

We are lucky to have such pleasant guests that it is easy to be happy, friendly, and relaxed. Thanks for mentioning the location - it is so nice to take a walk on our "extended property" at the Vanderbilt Estate. Thank you, thank you.

I read the reviews in trip advisor that rated this bed and breakfast as number one. I agree with the reviews. Good location across the street from the Vanderbilt mansion. Near the CIA and close to the airplane museum. The service was perfect. The breakfasts were fantastic. I love the oatmeal and french toast. I stayed in the second floor suite which is highly recommended.

So happy you got to see the Rhinebeck Aerodrome - an amazing place to see old vintage planes and very unique, special place. Please see us again!

Awesome 2 noc. stay this month. Valerie and her family were very welcoming. Breakfasts were wonderful. Just filling enough for a day of exploring.2 lovely sitting rooms as well to sit and have tea/coffee in after a long day of siteseeing.

Inn is located right across from Vanderbilt Mansion that has wonderful grounds for walking. Several miles down the road is the FDR mansion and presidential library and 10 min away is Eleanor Roosevelt's house.

Rhinebeck which is about 15 min. up the road is a wonderful New England town w/old fashioned main street and numerous restaurants.

Will definitely consider returning for future siteseeing in the Hudson river valley area.

Room Tip: Several rooms do not have private baths.

And awesome having you both here! Thank you for letting folks know how convenient we are to so many great sites in the Hudson Valley and we are happy that you were able to experience them yourself. The wonderful town of Rhinebeck - just up the road - has so many great restaurant choices that anyone can find what they love. Please do come back - and see us in the Fall! We would love to see you again. Thank you so much. One small note: All our rooms have private baths. 2 baths are located in the hall, but they are private.
