We have frequently travelled to the Hudson River Valley over the years and stayed in many lovely places. We consider Roosevelt Inn a great little find. The owner was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. She offered great suggestions in terms of restaurant recommendations, places to go, things to do, etc. The rooms and the propery was extremely clean, well cared for, and quite lovely with flowers planted all around the property and window boxes brimming over with flowers. Our room (#2) was very spacious (two double beds) and had a mini-fridge and a separate sink vanity area outside the bathroom. This made it easy for me to do hair and make-up while hubby was in the bathroom and shower. The "coffee shop" for breakfast is quite cute. Looks like a little soda fountain shop. Breakfast had great coffee, donuts, bagels, cereal, bananas, etc. The location is great right on Route 9 in Hyde Park (near sightseeing attractions such as FDR Presidential Home and Library, the Vanderbilt mansion, Culinary Institute of America, wineries, great antique shops, etc.). Also it's just 15 minutes south of the great little town of Rhineback. I highly recommend this place which is definitely several notches above the usual motel or motorcourt type lodgings. I will definitely stay here again. It's also very reasonably priced.

Thank you for the review! It is nice to hear you appreciated the flowers too. We had such a wonderful summer with gorgeous weather, I hope Autumn will be the same. It is almost time to plant all the yellow, wine and orange-colored mums in the flower boxes to compliment the changing leaves. You'll have to come and visit again and see our beautiful Hudson Valley in its fall splendor.

We decided to explore sites along the Hudson. This was a lovely, convenient, well-priced place to stay. It clearly had its start years ago but that was part of its charm. While I'm not a big bagel fan, theirs were excellent. A bagel with peanut butter kept me happy until it was time for lunch. The coffee was strong, rich, and perfect!!!! Great way to start the day!

Room Tip: Be clear with the hotel as to the accommodations needed. We don't sleep well in the same bed UNLESS it's a king, so we chose a room with two doubles.

Very clean and updated. Love the little cafe on site where one can get tea, coffee, water and make popcorn 24/7. Friendly staff. Would definitely go back. Great for FDR sites and other historic sites.

Room Tip: Lower floor or check for elevator. We were on the first floor so didn't look for elevator...saw stairs.

Thank you for your review, Debbi. We're glad you had a fun visit. We hope to see you again. -Karen

FYI--The motel does have a second floor where the Deluxe King and Queen rooms are located. We do not have an elevator; there are 14 steps. The Deluxe 2 Doubles are on the ground floor.

Janet and I visited Hyde Park, NY on our way to New England. We stayed two nights at the Inn and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and reasonably priced. the breakfasts were very nice with choices of cereals, fruit and great donuts and bagels. The inn was close to a number of good restaurants and to the FDR Home and Library, as well as the Vanderbilt Mansion.

We recommend it highly and would stay again if in the area.

Nothing negative to say about this place. It was clean, the staff was friendly, the breakfast/snack room was well supplied and generous, all was fine. No, it's not a fancy resort but these days, just finding an independent doing all the basic things right in a reasonably priced motel is getting more and more rare, so this was a real pleasure. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We were in the smallest room, because I messed up when making our reservation, and it was just fine for a couple.

Thank you for your review. We are happy you enjoyed your stay and liked our smaller Rustic room. It is a lower cost alternative to a Deluxe room. Yet, it has its own unique charm with the knotty pine walls but also a modern flatscreen TV and mini fridge. Hope you will come to see us again. -Karen
