Try the Apple Cafe or any of the restaurants. For the restaurants you might need a reservation. Take the tour if you have time, it is worth it and don't miss seeing the students' dinning hall.

I organized a dinner for 14 people last Monday at the caterina de Medici restaurant. It was delicious from soup to nuts and everyone in our party was raving about the food, especially the semolina gnocchi. The only complaint the whole night was that the gnocchi was served too hot, but maybe we were too eager! The service was excellent. Hats off to the students who work in all areas of this restaurant for making it a teriffic dining experience. The wine recommendations were also spot on.

Went to the American Bounty Restaurant for lunch. The spring pea soup was very good & flavorful but only lukewarm. The dandelion salad was interesting but had a little too much vinaigrette. I did eat it all though. Unfortunately my lamb chop ( asked for medium) was so rare I could not eat it. They took it back & the same chop was returned to me cooked longer. New veggies & gravy were returned but the same meat!!! I would have thought a new chop was in order after a mistake at the Culinary Institute. Lunch for two w/ dessert was. $114. We were offered a free dessert & coffee for the inconvenience. I would go back again but was really disappointed.

Our student guide did a great job of taking us around and explaining just how the CIA is structured. She commented that our group of 10 visitors asked more questions than she had ever experienced - we were truly interested in learning about this place. This really complemented our visit to the St. Andrew's Cafe for lunch, giving us a much greater appreciation of the education these students are getting. A must part of any person's visit to the CIA.

I wasn't sure what to expect on this tour but it proved to be very informative and made us appreciate our dining experiences. We were able to see behind the scenes as the students were cooking and learned about the degree programs that are offered and the hard work each student must survive. The tours are led by students who give this a very personal touch. You need to reserve this in advance when you make your dinner reservations. Don't miss this.
